I took my wife and some members of our family here to experience a ride on a miniature steam train on July 10th which actually was our first time. It was a fun and very interactive ride not until halfway through the ride our caboose derailed because the train picked up a little too much speed that my family and I ended up on our sides with our left leg pinned under the caboose. It dragged us for almost a foot more before the engineer stopped the train that resulted in sustaining several bruises, cuts, and abrasions. Their very first question was if everyone was okay and if we need to go to the hospital and if they have to call an ambulance so we all said no we don’t need to go to the hospital but we were never offered first aid for our cuts and abrasions. One thing that really stricken me was the employees dismissive attitude as if they wanted us to leave right away probably avoiding the rest of the people to notice what happened. I contacted the president of the place and in his statement he said the opposite of what really happened versus his staff said in terms of their immediate action. The crew stated that we were offered first aid and was declined. The place needs first aid/CPR trained employee in case accidents happens. Currently my wife’s ankle is still swollen, my aunt’s left rib part is still painful especially taking deep breaths. Please Mr Tinner ensure the safety of your patrons and make sure the place is always prepared for anything that might happen. We are in the process of having ourselves checked to make sure nothing is wrong internally. I personally want to thank Knud Hendrickson (one of the passengers) for an immediate help that he lend and for sticking around for us as a witness. In every accident like what happened on the 10th, asking if everyone is okay repeatedly is like asking the obvious especially there are abrasions, cuts, and bruises visible. Offer first...
Read moreDo you love trains? Kitsap Live Steamers is a group that keeps small trains running that you can ride on their tracks in South Kitsap Regional Park. The trains follow a route to the forest that allows you to see the train, the train OPERATOR and what’s in front of you and behind you. It’s fun and relies on donations from the public to stay in operation. They have regular runs on the second and fourth Saturdays during their run season and have special occasion runs for holidays. my personal favorite was Halloween where you got to ride on the train at night in the woods. There were ghosts and pumpkins and spooky noises. It was a real pleasure. Understand that the special occasion runs are very popular so you’re actually better off just going to the regular runs during the year, if you’re from...
Read moreWe went on the train and have had really great experiences in the past. Today was different. On the ride, my 10 year old reached out to point to one of the metal signals---she did not touch it. The lady who was monitoring from the front, yelled at her to not touch the signal. We acknowledged this and gave a nod, and corrected her. When we got off the train, the woman ran up to us and started yelling that she would be watching us, and that if she did it again, we wouldn't be allowed to ride. We repeatedly told her that 1) she was just pointing, and 2) we understood. She kept yelling at us and threatening that she will be "watching us" despite our numerous reassurances. We had a great ride up to that point and even started the ride with a donation, but she was extremely...
