We visit the park frequently and enjoy it, though there is still the looming worry of another loone pulling a gun on a playing dog. I never have encountered an aggressive dog or rude owner throughout the year I've been going (frequent weekly trips). I do have to complain that I've seen a lot of people lately not cleaning up after their dogs on the large breed side. Like, looking their dog in the eye as it uses the bathroom and not picking it up. There used to be a kiddie pool, but it's gone. I'm honestly not sure what happened to it, which is a bit of a bummer if you ask me. The large breed side typically is either 50/50 grass and dirt or grass and mud pools, which is a bit unfortunate. That being said, the park doesn't really have much to offer water-wise for the pups unless it's mud puddles. I wish there was a little bit more as far as the agility equipment goes, maybe even pools, but it isn't terrible. It serves it's purpose well and my dogs have fun nonetheless.
There are wash stations, but water tends to stand on them and it's usually muddy so it defeats the purpose of a "wash".
My last complaint would be the exit gate leaving the large breed side. If you let it slam close the gate will swing in hard enough and remain open. Obviously this is a safety issue regarding other people's dogs. Most people don't fix it once they've done it. I usually have to fix it and close the gate at least once while I'm there. Keep an eye on it while you're there and be mindful of this when leaving.
For those who think "aggressive breeds" should be muzzled, I think you should probably reevaluate what it takes for a dog to be aggressive. It wouldn't hurt for others to learn a bit about dog behavior before they attend, either. I think most people these days have enough common sense to know whether they should bring a DA or people aggressive...
Read moreRecently discovered this park. We’ve gone there twice to run and/or walk and have really enjoyed it. The sidewalks do have some disconnects but they are brief. One loop around is approximately 0.9 miles (this is if you run the outer perimeter including the small loop around the pond close to the front). The loop gives a full tour of the entire park (baseball fields, dog park, playground etc).
People seem to be respectful with pet waste but we did encounter pet waste in a couple places along the loop.
There is an Oasis Garden that looks very pretty from the sidewalk but we haven’t checked it out yet. Looks like people take a lot of photos there.
We don’t have a pet but the pet areas seem very calm, clean and well maintained from the outside looking in.
There are a lot of benches and picnic tables scattered all around the park.
We’ve used two bathrooms. The one close to the Oasis Garden was absolutely disgusting. The one next to the pond in front was just cleaned when we used it and was very clean.
We’d give it 4.5 stars if we could. Only major negative was the...
Read moreIf you're looking to travel the bayou by kayak, this is the place to start. They have a nice kayak launch and plenty to explore in every direction. There is even another park with a nice kayak launch about half an hour away if you turn to the right and then stay right. If you turn right and then go left, you can go about double that distance but it doesn't look like there is anyplace to get out and take a break. If you turn left, you can go all the way down to Clear Lake if you want to. There are no motor boats allowed in any of these places except when you get close to Clear Lake, so it's a really nice setup for kayaking. Whichever path you choose, you are very likely to see alligators, a variety of coastal birds, and some jumping fish on your journey. The park has other things too including a playground, docks by the water, and decent bathrooms, but we were there to kayak which is why I focused on...
