Norwegian Seamen's Church of Houston — Attraction in Pasadena

The Christmas Market at the Norwegian Seamen's Church, usually held over a weekend in early November, has been a highlight of my year ever since I moved to Houston. Everything about the experience is delightful, from the beautiful building and grounds to the smiling and welcoming people, and of course the variety of goods (mainly baked goods and crafts) for sale. You can have lunch (open-faced sandwiches, cake) in the tent out the back while kids play in the playground, and of course you'll go home with a bag full of treasures. And since the renovation a few years ago you can now see straight into the kitchen while all the baking is going on. Friday (the opening day) is pretty crazy with people but by Saturday things have calmed down a bit. Even if it's raining and they can't use the soccer field out back for parking, they'll run a shuttle from the parking lot up the road - and chat with you the entire way. I have never been to the church for a standard non-festival Sunday but every experience I have had with the people here has been pleasant...

Love coming to the Christmas bazaar every year. The homemade bread and Christmas cookies are delicious and we always come for lunch and to stockpile some Freia chocolate bars for the year. I can’t go to Norway every year but coming to the church makes up for that a little! Everyone is welcoming and friendly and is always interested in what ties you have to Norway. I lived there as a child in the 80’s while my Dad worked on Ecofisk. I’m glad they were able to have the bazaar again this year (although I did still order my chocolate for curbside pick up...

We to the Christmas Festival at the Norwegian Seaman's Church last weekend. Fantastic and enjoyed seeing all the beautiful merchandise, baked goods were great, and handmade items were well made. Had to get a few. Very enjoyable. Will go...
