I wasn’t sure what to expect before coming here, but this unassuming airbase blew me away! We thought we’d only be there a couple of hours tops, but ended up staying closer to 4 hours. While the amazing array of WWII era planes are the stars, it was the volunteers that brought this place to life. From Generals to Janitors every person there was entirely on a volunteer basis and extremely giving of their time for visitors. There’s no entrance fee. The place runs entirely on donations so consider carrying some cash if you’re interested in supporting the place or you can purchase a ride in one of the amazing planes like we did for my grandfather’s 80th. The pilot was so knowledgeable and giving of his time and grandpa came back safely with a smile from ear to ear.

My wife and I had the pleasure to attend the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia open house, Memorial Day 2022. They have a great collection of flying WWII aircraft on display, and some are available for rides, if your pockets are deep enough. I’m sure it costs a huge amount to maintain and operate these historical aircraft. What we enjoyed the most was spending time with the people of the CAF. Several of the folks that we were able to talk with, shared their experiences as military veterans, and aviation historians, based on their personal experiences. I would recommend visiting the CAF, or watching them at air shows whenever you can.

I purchased a P-51 Mustang ride for husband's 60th birthday, but the initial date had to be pushed due an FAA exemption review hold. Yvonne was awesome about keeping us updated and rescheduling another day. The reschedule date was forecasted with bad weather. However with the help of Yvonne and the other staff members were able to get him up the day before the weather hit. Jeff, the pilot, and Wanda were so accommodating on making his ride the dream of a lifetime. We brought the entire family back to the museum the next day and all the volunteers that day were so well educated, even the youngest found it fun and informative.
