This temple has changed alot isn e 1999. Very money minded - always seeking donations. Very Tamil favored. It is usually a norm of any hindu temple to offer Prasadam or annadanam on any special. Even temples that r not so rich as Meenakshi temple offer free Prasadam everyday in india and usa - Kirshna Vrundavan, SBVF, Astalakshmi Temple, Isckon to name a few. They always seek money for temple construction on a continuous basis and cannot offer prasadam for devotees. You always have to buy from the cafeteria even on special occasion days. Today we went there for chitrai festival, no anadanam sponsor so no prasadam ! Really!- rep at office - Venkatachalam wife’s tells us! Please buy food ! The staff at cafeteria very rude belittle other language guests/ devotees - guy with glasses today . I had 5 families who agreed with me today at the dosa counter and front counter - very rude and condescending behaviour! They r doing seva and don’t seem happy doing it! Very mean volunteers and Tamil dominated favoritism! Last visit is today - april 27,2025. Now they only want funding for priest quarters but dont offer anything to devotees. The priests show out evidently that they expect big tips else they will not do your seva properly. They automatically expect tips after your Seva and will talk about you to other priests around at that time if you don’t tip them ! I have seen priests here getting rich in front of my eyes over the years since 1990s with the opulent gold jewelry they wear on their bodies! This expectation is not seen/ heard of in other temples. This doesn't happen even in India. Their regular archana is outrageously priced . There r other temples that you should visit that are more cordial and genuine in their seva spirit! Venkatachalam is very rude man and has risen from dust to a higher position today - only to inflate his ego and pride! There is no godliness in his seva here! He Should be fired. ...
Read moreIf you are a strong believer of Meenakshi Amman, this temple is a must go in Houston. I have no words to describe the power of goddess Meenakshi. All my troubles in life particularly in US like relationship, health, visa, passport, racism, etc., I have come to this temple and opened my heart to Meenakshi Amman and shared all my troubles and felt extremely peaceful while leaving. And all of them without fail have been magically resolved. She is so powerful. As my wife is from Madurai, Meenakshi Amman carries special meaning for my family. Trust me and visit this temple without fail.
The temple is very clean with lot of parking spaces. Its about 25 mins from Houston Downtown (Pearland Texas). The structure reminds me of smaller South Indian temples back home. The priests here are extremely friendly and share very positive energy. There is plenty of walking space around the temple after worship. The walls of the temple carry some posters with history of Alwars and Nayanmaars. There is a small playground close to the temple were children can spend time. There is a beautiful peacock pen in the back with plenty of peacocks and peahens resting. There is a very good canteen with tasty food that's served till 8 pm in the evening on most days.
I whole heartedly encourage you to visit this temple. Every time I have visited this temple with a prayer that prayer has been fulfilled every single time without fail with the blessings of...
Read moreI recently got married in the Ganapati temple behind the main Meenakshi temple.
Mr. Vatsakumar is a gem of a person. He is a great asset to the temple. Our priest was Sri Parameswaran Raman and he was lovely and facilitated a beautiful wedding ceremony and helped us in detail with every aspect of the wedding since we didn't have a coordinator.
Mr Vatsakumar was very generous with this time and was in charge of all the logistical aspects of getting the temple hall ready before the wedding etc
We booked our slot at the temple months ago and it would be nice if the lady who was the main coordinator at the temple would be more patient and would have put us through all the parties involved in advance instead of leaving it up to the last month of the wedding because we had so many questions. That way we could have been better prepared instead of leaving everything to the last 2 to 3 weeks of the wedding.
Mr Vatsakumar and the priest Sri Parameswaran Raman saved the day for us and we whole heartedly thank them for everything. Office staff and the management was also very helpful and accomodating to get the wedding certificate signed after the...
