Hawthorne Vineyards is one of our favorites on the Old Mission Peninsula. There is nothing pretentious here as they maintain a humble and inviting atmosphere. It is ideally situated, offering breathtaking vistas of both the East and West Traverse Bays, with views extending over the vineyards. Inside, you will find a horseshoe-shaped bar area and ample table seating, complemented by a spacious outdoor deck featuring various high and low tables and a cozy fireplace. Additionally, there is lawn seating available, where guests can unwind in Adirondack-style chairs while enjoying the serene setting and stunning views. A wide selection of Hawthorne wines and wine-themed gifts are also available for purchase. Read moreWe had a friend's birthday getaway to Traverse City and made a reservation for Hawthorne among other spots. We were all very disappointed in the service and the wine was meh😕 I completely understand the challenges with all this Coronavirus mess! It sure has changed how we are able to enjoy things and still be safe, however, handling it with a friendly approach seems like it would make things smoother for any business owner. On top of the cold welcome, the wine was VERY expensive and not as good as the prices suggest. However, had the employees been friendly or even remotely interested in having us...the setting would have been gorgeous and worth the money spent. A like kindness goes...

We entered and were greeted and they made space for us around the bar.. about 15 minutes, and 3 tastings in we were asked by Sheila if we were ready to checkout. She did not ask if we were enjoying the wine, she did not ask if we had any other choices to try.. but asked if we were ready to check out. As we looked around the room we saw that no other patrons were asked this, and quite a few had empty glasses and were just chatting, just as we were. We left this establishment with a bitter taste in our mouths, not from wine but from Sheila simply not wanting us there,...
