We have enjoyed this park and touring the lighthouse for years. It's maintained beautifully. The view from up in the Lighthouse tower is beautiful and shows you what it would have been like to be the watch keeper and climb the tower to light the lamp nightly. The museum has artifacts and photos showing how they lived in the early days and information about some of the early families that lived and worked there. They have adirondack chairs in the fenced in yard, so we have brought snack lunches and just soaked in the atmosphere. They have porta pottys available. If you walk out onto the beach it is beautiful but beware of biting black flies at times, to the point of swarming you and leaving bite welts. They have a nice little gift shop in the lighthouse and the people working there are very knowledgeable and friendly. There are a few short trails that go into the woods if you want to stretch your legs a little. There is also a preserved cabin that tells history of it and shows you how things were living in those times, it is very nicely done and interesting. It is also a great place to take a break between wine tasting at the many wonderful wineries on...

If you have an hour to drive up from TC, hangout for a few minutes, and then head back I highly recommend it. If you can spare more time and want to take a nice drive with your windows down driving up to Lighthouse Park is so peaceful. All the orchards and wineries along the way right along the river is stunning.

Read moreEasy to access park that has limited accessibility year-round. There is a couple of museum artifacts and a gift store on-site, but they are seasonal.
The best part of the park is the beach. It's very shallow for a very long time and the unique location makes it a perfect spot for shells and rocks to accumulate.
There are spots on the beach where mussel shells are 2+ feet deep and the kids love walking through them (wish they weren't mostly zebra mussels). There are usually Petoskey hunters scouring the beach as well.
It's a good way to kill some time outside town, if nothing else. Though be warned, there are no real bathrooms,...
