Penn's Peak — Attraction in Penn Forest Township

We had a great time. Went to see Voyage, which apparently plays there a couple times a year. They are a Journey tribute band. If you like Journey, I highly suggest seeing Voyage who is coming back in a few months PHENOMENAL. The singer sounds almost exactly the same as the original singer. All very talented musicians.

Anyway, there are 2 reasons I am not going to give Penns Peak 4 stars.

One is because of the obstructed views from the people in the General Admission standing only area, right in front of the stage. This isn't a true theater type setup with stadium seating. So the place is completely level, it doesn't slope to the rear.

The second thing is the whole "General Admission only" deal. Maybe for some bands they sell seats, I don't know. The GA tickets we got from Ticketmaster actually had a row and seat number. But it's a free for all once inside. First in, best seats. In the end though the best seats are the stage front standing room area at the foot of the stage.

There are reserved seats all over that look to be very good spots to see, and have a place to set your drink or tables. I didn't see an option for this when I bought tickets. I think you have to be a part of their VIP club, but that wasn't very clear. Their website probably has more on that.

Someone did suggest we go upstairs because the seats are in some ways better. Now I see why. But I didn't want to be off to the side and only hear the left side lol. Well, that may have not mattered either. I kind of think the whole house sound system is in mono! Not sure. But I couldn't make out any stereo separation, and I have done sound support for live shows. So I have an ear.

I may have focused too much in the "bad". Honestly there is nothing that was all that upsetting. I do wish we got there earlier, but I also can't stand for long periods of time.

The sound aside from what I mentioned was very good. Not great, but very good. A few feedback issues, but it happens. Overall though the sound and lights were really good.

The atmosphere was great. People were all friendly. This is not the MSG atmosphere I grew up with going to see Iron Maiden and having fights all over the place. This is an older more mature crowd. From what I see of the bands they have booked, it normally will be. I did not hear or see a single incident. In fact people were almost too nice.

We WILL be back! Next time with a better idea how to get...

I don’t even know where to begin with this venue…… We first started having trouble with this venue when my friends band was playing and a friend wanted to bring in her camera they wouldn’t let her. They kept saying that the artist doesn’t allow photographs well that was a lie because I happen to know that it’s in my friends rider that they allow their fans to take as many photographs and videos as they want so every time my friends band plays there we have to bother one of the members to come out and give us a special pass to let us bring our cameras in. It’s ridiculous … another time same band one of the members was leaving for good and we wanted to celebrate so we wanted to bring in some cupcakes for an after party. They told us no food. We said we weren’t bringing the food in to the venue, we wanted to bring it to backstage so that we could celebrate later, they would not let us do that either. And now another friends band is playing and we bought tickets just found out that they just released front row tickets and we would very much like to sit in the front row. We called the venue they will not exchange tickets!!! Really? Any other venue that I’ve ever been to we were always able to exchange tickets that’s ridiculous… There’s no harm in exchanging tickets and if there’s an upgrade fee, we would’ve gladly paid that they’re not losing out by exchanging tickets… We asked if we could do it the day of the show because I’ve done that too where tickets have opened up the day of the show and we exchange for the better seats. They wouldn’t allow us to do that either, what is wrong with this venue??? They’re not very nice to the people that are coming there. They don’t seem to care about the fans only about...

I'm reviewing this venue as it relates to my professional experience as a vendor. I had the pleasure of photographing and video recording a wedding taking place in their spacious entertainment space and with one or two exceptions this is probably the best architecturally designed venue for photography I have ever worked in! They leave the lighting decisions up to the entertainer or the guest organizer so I would suggest hiring a DJ with a good lighting system and a photographer who can bring supplementary lighting but that being the case, you can't ask for a better stage for your special day! The access to the dance floor is free-flowing; there are multiple access points for guests and servers to circulate in the course of their activities and numerous restrooms in every corner. Our hostesses, Flo and Krista were more than accommodating once we arrived and were eager to provide anything that we requested and answered any questions that we had in spite of some timing snags that developed out of their control. This delayed the food service just slightly from schedule but was well within the timeframe expected for dinner. The food was good and the cleanup was done and out of the way without disruption which is a big plus in my opinion. I particularly love the loft above the dance floor which enables photographers and videographers an alternative viewpoint (although we did not take advantage of the second level because of lighting decor which was installed for this particular event but I can't wait to go back again and use that option)! Kudos to you Penn's Peak folks for 5-star service! But guys, please fix the beeping alarm battery on you front entrance! It drives...
