Weatherford's Climbing — Attraction in Pensacola

This was my first time here and was greeted by a man with a ponytail that said they could only do 5 at a time (which I totally get) my kids were with me and I asked him where we should go and if I needed to make reservations and the young man proceeded to yell at me and said “Why is everyone today so rude!?!” I said to him that I was so sorry if he thought I was being rude I just had no idea how things worked as it was my first time. He continued to shake his head at me and was so awful that I was in tears. I just wanted to know where he wanted us to stand, in the store? Outside? I’m a total rule follower and would never try to buck the system. Everyone else was so kind and I just cannot understand why they would let this man treat customers like this. I was looking for a kayak and found Weatherford's on the Web. We stopped by and spent over an hour there talking with Dave, who is full of information on many, many subjects. While they only had one kayak that was close to what he told me I should be looking for, he took the time to go over a kayak catalog and gave me invaluable information on what to look for and also how to set up a self-rescue and other tips for using a kayak safely. He then gave me the name of another store that had many kayaks in stock. He was very knowledgeable about outdoor sports and equipment but his experience and knowledge went beyond that. He discussed 15th century English and French history with my 16 year old daughter and scuba diving with my wife and I. I found their climbing staff unhelpful and very pretentious especially for being the absolute worst gym I have ever laid eyes upon. Complaints about chalk on the ground is ridiculous seeing that it is a pseudo GYM!! Their staff won't belay customers even when no one else is there climbing and the staff is sitting around doing nothing. This is a fundamental problem for newcomers to start. Why even have a climber on staff if they are not helpful and trying to get people up on the wall? As far as safety goes the whole facility has 2.5 bouldering pads that are in dreadful condition and should be replaced seasons ago. Their routes are clustered and poorly designed.
