This slide is straight out of the Johnny Knoxville movie Action Point. Bolts are loose, water doesn't flow down half the slide, the whole platform moves when people go down it, and the actual slide is torn up and needs to be resurfaced. The water on the slide goes to the right so you end up riding the side of the slide burning any exposed side on your right side. The slide isn't smooth so little kids get thrown from side to side like a VW Bug driving over speed bumps at a high rate of speed and flung out at whatever angle they bounced off the side wall at. Where the middle slide transitions from down to up at the bottom there's a bump, I got launched airborne off of it, and then slammed chest first INTO the slide knocking the wind out of me, then launched through the air and belly flopped into the water completely out of breath. Thought I cracked a rib or two. Next time I landed on my head and nuts at the same time. Yeah, try and wrap your head around the physics of that, but it happened. Saw a chick go down the big slide, flew through the air like a dead fish shot out of a cannon, belly flopped and just about knocked herself out. The life guards had to swim and get her out. Every time anyone went down the slide and hit the water they all popped up groaning about how much it hurt, then did it again. The little kids get spun through the air head over feet like a ninja throwing star, slam into the water, and pop up like nothing. Almost every time someone hit the water weird, and every time the people floating in the water and on the slide all go "Oh shit", wait for a few seconds for them to pop out of the water, second guess going down the slide, do it anyway, and hit the water wrong to another "oh shit" from the crowd The cliff jumping part is a lot of fun, ask them to open that part up because it's usually closed. You WILL get hurt on this slide. You will have fun on it though. Will go again next summer. The worst part is walking up all those stairs a dozen times, going down the slide and hitting the water out of breath because youre not in your 20s anymore, and then doing it...
Read moreYesterday a group of friends along with myself spent the day at the lake for our friends birthday. We were all super excited to go try the new water slide we’ve heard so much about. Needless to say the experience was not what we expected. Our friend was told to go down the slide two different ways by two different people. He’s 6’4 so I’m sure that had something to do with the confusion. Our friend went down the slide exactly how the person at the top told him to. Well, on the way down his mouth caught the edge of the slide and basically turned his two front teeth into dust. We understand things happen and this was probably an out of the norm event. However, the way the owner Gary Schmit handled the situation was appalling. Our friend will now have to spend thousands of dollars to get his teeth fixed and the owners lack of compassion and overall respect was uncalled for. When trying to speak to him about how this could be avoided in the future since little children go on the slide his response was literally “that sucks bro, I don’t know what to tell you.” I was in shock and my friends and I walked away more upset about how we were treated than the event itself. I feel terrible for my friend and this “Gary Schmit” character made it a heck of a lot worse by not showing basic human compassion or empathy. He should really consider taking some management classes to learn how to handle stressful and uncommon situations. Being a total ass is how you end up getting sued, regardless of waivers. If you’re planning on going on the slide do so at your discretion because if something happens you won’t even get an “I’m sorry you got hurt.” Also, the owners claimed that he was checked out by their emt which NEVER happened. That’s a total lie just like them saying he hit his teeth on his nuckles... if that was the case there would be a massive gash and there’s nothing at all. Not only is the owner a total jerk but a...
Read moreWith the big hype around the opening of the slide, a group of friends and I were looking forward to it on Saturday for our planned Lake-day to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. However, the experience was far from enjoyable. After being told to go down the slide two different ways, by two different people working the slide, my boyfriend’s two front teeth snagged on the edge of the slide coming down, snapping them, literally, in half - His teeth crumbled in his mouth. When approaching the owner of the slide, Gary Schmit, he was far from sensitive to the situation and immediately got defensive telling my boyfriend “that sucks bro, I don’t know what to tell you.” Even then I expressed I understood these things happen, especially when trying something so new, and that is why waivers are in place, however his response was uncourteous and rude. We were sincerely just concerned about the safety to others using the slide - including children, while he showed no concern himself. My boyfriend now has thousands of dollars in dental bills to correct his teeth, has been in severe pain since the incident, and the least Mr. Schmit could have done was be kind and apologetic, but instead was unempathetic and disrespectful. His employees showed more concern than he. Customer service goes a long way no matter what your title is, especially after something so traumatic occurs at your place of business. I highly warn those planning on using the slide to not, and if you do - use with extreme caution. This was an unfortunate experience and we wouldn’t wish...
