I planned a 5 day trip for 4th of July, which is also my birthday week as well! Pricing for renting the campsite for 5 days was not the best but ultimately affordable in a few aspects. Lake Perris seems to need money because the charge rates are elevated for almost everything. The Lake was beautiful, I was surprised we didn't have to pay to just swim!! Lynn and her partner the week of the 4th, they worked at the office for the campsites, and they were ONLY wonderful people we encountered. The first boat dock attendant was HORRIBLE the first day we rented a boat, just super rude and not knowledgeable or maybe he just didn't care...? Nonetheless, it was horrible customer service that was not forgotten...and we rented 2 times from the dock to use boats. For renting a Pontoon for $250 for the day, for it to be so unsafe as everything was broken or falling off, and to charge so much, is absolutely improper Lake Perris!!! ALL the seats were broken, the drivers chair was broken and 100% cut 3 people, I even reported it and the Dock rep said "they won't do anything about it". Really?? Come on Lake Perris!! The boat was falling apart and we literally caught all the pieces that were falling off so it didn't get lost in the lake. Additionally, we asked to switch to a different boat for safety of CHILDREN right away but there wasn't one available. We arrived at the Dock each time we saw a vessel return to swap. A new gentleman said he would ask the office and HE NEVER DID, each time we came back to the dock to see about switching he magically was not around. HORRIBLE to take so much money from people to have fun at their LAKE and not even make it a safe rental. My family is wonderful so we absolutely made the best of it but WOW how terrible. The campsite was GREAT, but you can only park your vehicles on the pavement, this again, I understand why... however, there should be additional parking for other vehicles if you are going to charge for parking at least make it more family enthused. There could be less than the people allowed on a campsite but more cars, so I definitely think there should be some changes to that. Lynn and her partner were about the only ones that had any couth in assisting, so I very much appreciate them both, thank you. I understand you all have duties and regulations to follow, however superiority should not be abused and safety should ALWAYS be regarded ESPECIALLY while on the lake!!! They have an island that is really great to go to! I suggest checking it out to swim or fish! As far as camping, be prepared to pay for anything you wish to do on the lake. I don't recommend camping more than over a weekend unless you love being at the lake. Not entirely sold to return, but at least made the best of the lake and it's environment for my...
Read moreHaving done my research the day before coming here, and being excited to see this supposedly clean lake with twenty feet of visibility ("in certain areas"), I can say without a doubt that claims versus the reality are quite dissimilar. I went free diving and regardless of the depth my visibility never went further than seven feet. Anything past seven feet was nothing but a wall of pea green soup.
Despite visibility being so limited I recovered about seven beer cans, twelve chip bags, an innumerable amount of dixie cups, and countless other pieces of trash within about a one-hundred yard distance parallel to the shore. It doesn't seem as if anyone who comes here really cares for the environment, nor anyone else's enjoyment of it as I watched more litter being carelessly and selfishly dropped.
Though a minor nuisance and not so much a concern, I shall list that the "sand" on the beach is more of a not-so-finely ground and compressed dirt. Where sand quickly brushes off of the feet and leaves no stains, this dirt clings to you for dear life and makes you feel dirty just standing in it.
That black, putrid mud that smells of the depths of the most unfavorable regions is thick and overly-present in the water. Atop the black, putrid mud is layers of thick brown-green algae.
Great place to bring the kids on a week day for a quiet little get away, though I'd really only recommend it if you have toys such as stand up paddle boards, boats, and jet skis. Don't forget an umbrella, there is little to no convenient shade and the lake goers are full of seedy individuals you'd...
Read moreWent camping here on Quail loop during Spring break for 2 nights with the family. Day time temperature is in the 80 and night time is in the 50. We camped during mid week so the camp was not too crowded. All camp sites were booked for the weekend. There are lot of gnats during day and evening time but did not seem to be the biting kind so bug issue is manageable. The camp site is clean and most are flat. Flush restroom and hot shower are available. The staff work hard to keep trash empty and restroom clean. During the night, traffic noise from the town can be heard at the camp site. Also morning boat traffic start at 6AM. The noise can be disruptive to some light sleepers. Boating, paddle boarding, swimming and fishing are allowed at the lake to keep us busy...
