Went early May 2023. It's okay. Showers were scalding hot and not adjustable. Camp sites and fire pit areas kept pretty clean and mowed. Didn't see racoons or ticks but signs near restrooms reassured us they were there. Campsites are kind of too close together. Bathrooms (pit and flush) kept fairly clean. But sink faucets need strainers cleaned. Toilets kept stocked with plenty of toilet paper. Many sites have no shade. Firewood overpriced. Water spigots have drinking fountains removed. Place seems sterile. Place seems geared towards (and priced for) expensive big rigs. $70 for two nights electric. Tent campers (non-electric) aren't appreciated. They get pit toilets. Camp store isn't open early season. Campground gatehouse not staffed early season (early May). Long walk from campground to lake and beach. I've been going for years once or twice a year. Not much to do. No pool. No orchestrated community activities like volleyball, shuffle board, ping pong, etc. No game room or lodge. No bike rentals. Not really sure what attracts people. Ohhh, and virtually no usable Verizon data cell service. Mobile calls spotty. Texts sometimes go through. T-mobile is a bit better. Forget reliable video streaming on all carriers for the duration of your stay. Campground provided wifi is a joke comparable to 2g although to be fair I didn't even try it my last visit early May 2023. Last year beach and swimming is ok. Lake water is a tad dirty but warm. Bathhouse is a long walk to beach so God help you if you have to go the bathroom when swimming. Ice cream is fairly priced at the beach house when it's open. Quiet hours honored when I was there. No idiots blasting country...

We travel full time and have experienced many types of parks. Our first time RVing at Miami State Recreation Area at Mississinewa State Park made quite the impression on us. It is a Corps of Engineers park operated by the Department of Natural Resources, so the prices per night are reasonable. All around, it is a very large State Park with a seasonal beach, walking paths, and well over 450 large, roomy sites that include a fire ring and a picnic table for campers — seasonal, cabins, full hookup, electric only, or primitive. Both RV and tent camping available. Pets are permitted as long as they are leashed and attended to at all times. Five shower/bathroom buildings and six vault toilet facilities may be found throughout the campground. There are a couple playground areas for the kids as well as a horseshoe pit, a frisbee golf course and a volleyball court. The park also has a ramp for boat access and an archery range. A separate equestrian campground is available where campers must have at least one horse on site to use. There are many water access locations throughout the campground and a dump station with three lanes for final flush is at the entrance to the campground. Abundant trash dumpsters are located close to the dump station. The park is full of life by day and quiet at night. It is a clean and wonderful place to gather with family and friends or as a older couple like us...to meet people, go for walks, and just enjoy the...

Went camping with our family and had a blast. was the first time that we stayed at this campground. the reason for 4 star review is just off a couple things. one was the lady when we first pulled in friday was very rude and sassy. the camp store didn't have any charms, medallions, smaller itemed souvenirs. they only had the t-shirts. which I did buy 2 one for myself and one for my husband because they are cute. would kind of recommend maybe having at least a couple plus sizes on a few of the shirts. when we went they all stopped at 2x, some also didn't even go to 2x and stopped at a L or XL. oh and one other thing, when we pulled in at 1:45pm friday, the newer bathrooms that were close to our site were not open yet, which was a bummer as we had to go use either the pit toilet or drive around the whole campground to the other side to use the other restrooms. I am sorry, but they saw how many people were booked on the one side, and that there was already quite a few people that were there, the restrooms should have been open. I will applaud though that the restrooms were nice and clean, very spacious and I LOVE the fact that the new ones at this location have individual showers WITH LOCKING DOORS and not those cheap barely covering shower curtains that a lot of campgrounds have. overall not a bad experience, just some things could...

I could not find much on this campsite before I booked it so I’m leaving a detailed review in case you are considering visiting. A great place to camp and enjoy the wildlife. We saw deer, turkeys, turkey buzzards, bald eagles, groundhogs, and raccoons (even heard raccoons fighting) and heard coyotes. Early April was too cold to enjoy the lake but the swimming area looked nice- there was a sign indicating no lifeguard was on duty but I do not know if that is year round or just seasonal. There is a public boat ramp, fish cleaning area, and several day-use pavilions. Bundles of firewood are available to purchase on site for just under $7 at the time of our visit. You can bring in wood from offsite but check Indiana’s regulations for what type and where it can be from. Weather was not our friend on this trip and our campsite became a mud pit after an unexpected shower, but that’s on us and the rain. I only mention the mud to say the bathroom and shower facilities were very close and made cleaning up super easy.

If you're looking for quiet, primitive camping this isn't the park to go for, but if you're an extrovert and like meeting your neighbors definitely book a site here. We went there camping and booked a non-electric tent campsite in the "Modern" section. We were right across from the "Vault Toilets" which to be honest are pretty horrific, especially if you use the female bathrooms. Tons of flies and spiders and no privacy. We walked to the flushing toilets down the block. There are amenities onsite for firewood, ice etc and "Woody's" one and two are close by if you need anything. Peru is about a 20 minute drive away for Kroger etc. This is a very busy recreational area with lots of camp sites, RVs, campers and tents. The lake is noisy and busy but I didn't mind the engine noise. A sea plane taking off was the highlight for me. A fire ring and a picnic table is available at every site, and some of them have electric.
