Rented cabin 5. First get there and code won’t work. No one at gate to help. Had to find camp host which he had to call 3 people before he found help. Almost an hour later while my family is just standing and waiting a guy came with a key and unlocked door for us. He apologized and promised the next day he would send free wood to our cabin for having to wait so long. That wood never came. First morning we woke to my son with bites on him in lines and triangles. I was not educated so I didn’t know what it was. Second morning woke to whole family completely ate up. I paid 50.00 and did a video chat with my doctor immediately which confirmed they were bed bug bites. We immediately packed up and checked out early and went to laundry mat. My daughter noticed a bug one on her leg while my husband and I were packing up. I bagged it and tried to show office when I checked out and the lady refused to even look at it. This 170.00 cabin rental to celebrate my daughter’s birthday has so far cost me close to 1500. I ask for refund and manager wouldn’t even let me finish talking. I was only asking for a refund for the last day that we left early. But she never even heard that. I immediately get attitude from manger and told they had their guy check the cabin and there isn’t any bed bugs. Promise you “their guy” isn’t a professional exterminator!! Funny because I have doctor confirmation and Exterminator confirmation and still hve that bug in a bag that they still won’t even hear me when I say I have it to show them. Refused any sort of refund and pretty much told me they don’t believe me. Exterminator found zero in my home but still doing the treatments grrrr!! I have all this documented by professionals and offered to bring to them and they completely over talked me and wouldn’t hear me. Good luck to the next person that stays in that cabin!! When you wake up eaten alive you won’t get a refund so don’t waste your...

Mississinewa Lake Campgrounds is hands down one of the best managed and maintained state parks in the entire state of Indiana. From the moment you arrive, you can tell the staff here takes incredible pride in keeping the grounds clean, organized, and welcoming to all visitors.
The camping locations are absolutely perfect. Whether you’re in a tent, camper, or full-sized RV, there’s a spot for you. They offer full hookups, including 30 and 50 amp power, and the sites are well-spaced, level, and thoughtfully laid out for easy access and comfort. The restrooms and shower facilities are always clean and well-stocked, which really adds to the overall experience.
The beach area is one of our favorite parts of the park. It's spacious, clean, and family-friendly. The swimming area is roped off and supervised during the day, making it a safe place for kids. But what really sets it apart is the concession stand—easily the best I’ve seen at any state park in Indiana. The food is hot, fresh, and incredibly reasonably priced. It’s a rare find to get good food at a great price inside a park like this.
Another standout feature is the security staff that patrols the grounds, especially in the evenings and at night. They’re friendly but firm, and they do a great job ensuring that quiet hours are respected and everyone feels safe and secure.
Overall, Mississinewa Lake Campgrounds is an ideal weekend getaway for families. Whether you're there to relax by the fire, hit the beach, go boating, or just enjoy nature, it has something for everyone. We’ll absolutely be returning again and again. If you're looking for a well-run, peaceful, and beautiful campground, look no further. This...
Read moreBath houses are nice, camping spaces are pretty good. Electric and water hook-ups in working order, spaces are gravel and relativly level. Some have new fire pits. Most spaces are shaded by mature trees. Picnic tables are new, but only 5 feet in length.
The lake does have the algae problem, so there is a swim advisory at the beach. The beach is accessible with a SMALL steep ramp and crushed gravel. (no sand). There are a few picnic shelters available to reserve. Plenty of picnic tables and a large grassy area set back from the water front.
Hiking trails are pretty easy terrain for inexperienced and moderate hikers. Personally, I wish the DNR would clear the underbrush along the lake edge so hikers could enjoy the view and wildlife. ( I do understand leaving it natural, but it could be cut back for some "lookout" areas.)
Quiet times adhered to by most campers ( except the campground hosts who play loud music or TV programs in the evening). In my personal opinion, Sept 5 is too early for Halloween decorations, but several people already had them out. To each his own.
There are at least 3 playgrounds that I saw, and several bathrooms, a few pit toilets, and separate showers.
In general, the park is family friendly, boating, fishing, archery, hunting, and hiking friendly.
On a side note, there is a camp store right outside the park that carries a bit of everything you might need. Including items for camper connections or repairs, fishing lures, swim gear, groceries, novelties, ice cream etc. so you may not need to drive clear into Peru if you...
