Desert Horizon Park — Attraction in Phoenix

There's a nice big clearing that I can fly my quadcopters in, paths with thrilling POV obstacles, it's close to home and with a court so I can hoop here til 11pm, not too big so never annoying parking, benches in the right places to set up my gear right by my car, and a giant police station right there so I can be pretty confident that nobody will mess with my stuff. Great park.

It would be nice if more older people around my age (40ish) would come to Desert Horizon at night to hoop, even just shooting around, and I'd be happy to share my outdoor balls, weighted training ball (you'll be shocked what 2-3x weight does for handling, it would be great to have anyone around to practice ball movement with it, it's really an amazing tool. Become the guy on your league team that virtually never gives up the rock!). The court is almost always dead late & populated by children in daylight, but it's strongly lit at night with orangey sodium HID lamps. Hopefully they get around to replacing those with brilliant hotter-white LEDs in the near future, but the orange glow does kinda make it feel like it always has which is alright with me. Typical public park shaky backboard/rims unfortunately but the only really legit courts I get access to are in PV private residences. Desert Horizon Park is a delightful oasis of outdoor enjoyment. Its vast open spaces are perfect for a game of catch or simply basking in the sunshine. The playgrounds are a haven for kids, full of laughter and activity, while the communal charcoal grills and basketball courts add a communal, friendly vibe. The park's cleanliness and safety are notable, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors. It's definitely a place I look forward to visiting again, a true gem for leisure...

The park is large. It has several 'green" belt areas. It has ball diamond. Cricket. Soccer fields, there is also avery nice children's play area. The park is located next to a police station. I wish more parks were that close, to a precinct. I felt very safe. There were several people walking dogs, all were friendly and dogs well controlled.
