If you want to know what it's like walking on Mars, I'm sure it's similar to this geological site.
Want to know what's better than one hole in a rock? Two holes! But you have to walk up the trail to see it. This is a nature made formation.
Do you think you can determine the summer and winter solstice from the position of the sun through the hole? The Hohokam indigenous culture did!
Curious to know why the rock is slick? You have to visit to get the reason. Fliop Flops, heels, or barefeet are not recommended.
I visited at sunset and the weather was 103°. There was a slight overcast so it was warm and bearable.
Sunsets are always breathtaking. Watching others in awe of the rock formations and grandiosity of the view is priceless.
The very short trail is an incline that is easy on the heart and breath. There is slight scrambling but the rock steps to the hole and view seating area makes it non-athlete friendly. If 4 year olds can walk the trail and say, "It's fun," this means the walk is not long nor strenuous.
It's easy to overestimate the length of time you'll stay. Parking is at the base. The walk is 4-8 minutes and it seems quite simple, "a hole." Wait until you get here.
I was here on a Tuesday so it was only 15 folks for two hours. There was a photoshoot, a proposal, father's with little ones, a first date and solo folks. I made sure I had water and drank it all and it was my intent to only be visiting 10 minutes.
If you're a local or not, and have an hour, grab a subway and eat it here. Take your waste. Pet friendly. Please don't let your dogs use the bathroom on the trail path or seating area. Your dog is your family and not everyone has the same sentiment.
You can see all of Phoenix, the airport, the North Mountain, offshoots of nearby trails, a modified oasis, a beautiful sky or sunset.
My pics are real and taken with Google Pixel 5.
A mustard seed of faith can move mountains, imagine that on this mountain. You matter....
