Five-Star Review for Pigeon Key – A Hidden Gem in the Florida Keys! If you’re looking for a truly unique and historic destination in the Florida Keys, Pigeon Key is an absolute must-visit! Nestled beneath the iconic Old 7 Mile Bridge in Marathon, this tiny island is bursting with history, charm, and breathtaking views. Stepping onto Pigeon Key feels like traveling back in time. Originally established in the early 1900s as a work camp for the men building Henry Flagler’s ambitious Key West Extension of the Florida East Coast Railway, the island played a key role in connecting mainland Florida to the Keys. The preservation of this history is evident everywhere—from the restored cottages to the museum exhibits that showcase the island’s fascinating past. Visitors can explore the island’s rich history through guided tours, stroll along the picturesque waterfront, and take in the stunning scenery surrounding this hidden gem. Whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, Pigeon Key offers something for everyone. Getting there is an adventure in itself! You can walk, bike, or take the ferry to the island, each providing incredible views of the turquoise waters and marine life below. Pigeon Key is more than just a historical site—it’s an experience you’ll never forget. Be sure to bring your camera and plan to spend a few hours soaking in the island’s beauty and history. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend adding Pigeon Key to your Florida Keys itinerary!

I’ve always been curious about how the roads to the Keys were built. We ventured to Pigeon Cay yesterday and learned and saw so much! It’s amazing how the roads, bridges and railroads were designed and built. Our train conductor was Julie, friendly, informative and focused on safety at all times. Our guide Eric is so knowledgeable! He is calm, courteous, and a detail man. As he informed us, he was able to answer questions with details and specificity. If you’re a history buff, you’ll really enjoy this place. And even if you’re not, it’s still a site worth stopping at to see. You ride on the original 7 mile bridge, there since 1912, and can see the “new” one completed in 1982 (the one we all drive on now). Great experience for my family and I.

Such a fascinating piece of history to learn about. The guides are VERY informative and knowledgeable. The gift shop has a lot of unique items and even a popcorn machine. These t-shirts are EXTREMELY fitting.

Very expensive. Nothing to see here. Most buildings are closed except for a very small unremarkable museum . The admission price is hefty 15.00 for an island with nothing on it. It is a scheme to get you to pay to use the bathroom and enter the gift shop for a bottle of water after a long two mile walk to get there. Yes that is correct 15.00 to go to the gift shop.

I was charged a fee to sit in a chair and wait for my spouse to pay 15.00 for the use of the bathroom. They charged my credit card just to wait for him since I was on the island. Apparently those are the rules and can’t be changed. So I suggest you look from the bridge because that is the best view - nothing on the...
