I stop by Jordan Lake recreational areas office to inquire about an upcoming event. When I walked in you could clearly hear someone speaking but did not come to the front desk, so in the interim I went to use the restroom. Upon returning to the front desk the office manager was engaged with another person inquiring about information. The office manager was very polite and even grabbed a map and highlighter to further guide the individual and and around Jordan lakes campground area. Needless to say, once it was time to help me it was an entirely different experience. She exclaimed, "hello may I help you..." and I answered, "yes, I am seeking information about an upcoming event which involves RVs as well as group tent camping..." After that statement I handed her a flyer and then said, "as you can see it does not give the location for tent camping and I was hoping you could provide that information..." The woman then lean forward breathed in and then lean back and blew out and then went on to state, "I'm not aware of such event and no event to my knowledge was authorized..." She then got up stating I need to inform the superintendent about this. She called out for him and he eventually answered abruptly, what. After going back to the office where he was sitting he then stood up placed his tablet so it hovered above the flyer and took a picture of the flyer. Afterwards walking outside of his office past the door looking at me with a smirk and then looking away. The woman working directly with me then came back and said neither one of us know anything about this event but intend to look into it. Although, I can tell you things like this are not authorized. I responded, "do you not allow group camping?" She said, "yes, but there is no alcohol allowed...." She went on to explain there is no catering of any kind, although I did not inquire of any type of catering service. Additionally, she stated, "you cannot rent kayaks, so you would have to rent the kayaks from Jordan Lake..." Which was another statement offered but not solicited, however, I did think could I drive a rented car or must I rent a car from Jordan Lake as well. If that was not enough overt passive hostility, she went one step further by saying, "you know you don't have to pay what this flyer is advertising..." and I responded, "I was aware of the listed website priced." Then she said, "yes, that prices correct but for veterans. Do you know what veteran is?" My answer was, "I'd like to think so..." I guess because it was not definitive, she went on to define veteran. One would think that was very helpful of that woman to define the designation veteran to this elderly man? Wrong, because the vest I was wearing was covered with military patches and symbolization. At this point and if you read this far it should go without saying that I left the office with no map and no highlight denoting where the group campsites was, and not because I didn't ask, so I can only assume the reason why I didn't receive it was I didn't meet the requisite requirements for who receives professional courtesies. Just another example of you can take our tax money but you cannot utilize the same services in which you help pay for. I guess the WASP club is alive and kicking and the gatekeepers are still at the door. Jordan Lake recreational area is it beautiful place for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, RVing, and camping. Therefore, I highly recommend all citizens of these United States, regardless of color or race visit and stay at this state park especially.

I've been camping in Jordan Lake's various campgrounds since I was a kid, and its consistently been a fun and relaxing experience. I was a bit nervous to go this weekend since we've gotten a lot of rain and some campsites were flooded, but the rangers were very accommodating for anyone whose campsite may have been flooded out. I was in Poplar's loop B on this particular outing, and had great cell service the entire time which was comforting. Bathrooms were also a short walk and were clean as could be and in great condition as always. Dogs are allowed on leash (6ft) and I brought my pooch and had no issues. There were quite a few doggies around. There is a breeze off of the lake in most sites, so the temperature will be a lot cooler, which is great for NC summers. I also purchased firewood at the entrance which is $5 for a small bundle, and would definitely recommend at least 2 if your not cooking with it, and double that if you are. You do want to buy firewood in the area, and I know some gas stations near the campgrounds also sell firewood but I'm not sure about the cost, especially in the off season. I love camping here and I can't think of a single negative! Large group trips like scouts or church events are so much fun here as well, as they have certian campgrounds made for such groups. I've never used an RV or camper here, but they do have hookups and campsites for those options. If you're looking for a fun, cost effective, easy camping experience this is the place to go. Also excellent for first time campers! I dont know if they have any more rugged campsites here, but in my experiences this is not a wilderness camping experience, so if you're looking forward to digging your own waste trench this is probably not for you, but if you're looking for a spot where you can spend a day or two in nature, this is 100% what I...

If you re thinking about it and have not yet you should. We live in wake county in Raleigh. This was our very first trip camping with our camper(tented for many years as a couple). So we were excited to be close and near the lake. I had a lot of questions i did get answered so i will post them here. We stayed in the Cross winds part of the campground there are 3 loops in this facility. A loop no water and no electric it has very nice spacious sites i think very nice sites some with a lake view there are a lot of double sites in each loop some are smaller than others but the small ones are big sized. Then there is a B loop that's were we stayed in it has electric and water with a dump station on your way out. that is my favorite loop and the nicest in my opinion i stayed at B55 and it was next to the bathroom. it was so quiet. Bring your bikes lots of kiddos riding around no golf carts are aloud either. Then popular point and loop C its electric and water and double sites as well. pets are aloud on leash smoking is aloud only at your campsite and that the same with alcohol of any kind it may only be at your site that what I was told at check-in. So there is no playground so be sure to bring the kiddos entertainment. Our little with ASD had the time of his life. hope this helps worth...
