First for the positive: Prices are not bad at all for rentals and walk on play. They have a huge staging area and more than enough room for all your friends. Most of the refs were cool I just thought they made some bad decisions during our Saturday play, which I will explain later. If you have enough people, it looked like the private parties were having a great time.
The negative: First and I would say the worst is there is literally BROKEN GLASS everywhere at this place. As you would guess, sliding or kneeling down on glass isn't that fun. It's actually a huge safety concern and I don't understand how someone has gotten seriously injured yet. There is one field in the back that they never use because it has too much glass that it's off limits. When I was there the reff actually took us to this field and acted like he was doing us some kind of service by letting us play on the field after explaining why they never use it.
Second, they had far too many people playing in one game during walk ons. They should have made two groups instead of one. I swear to GOD we must have been playing 40 vs 40 on their small fields. Not fun when you have 6 people at the same bunker.
Third, One of the refs got in a huge fight with a customer because the customer was mad about a stupid call on the field. The customer was an idiot, but the ref entertained it and it got out of hand. I felt bad for the kids and their parents who were watching. After the ref started to apologize to everyone, but his apologize soon turned in to a lecture and a scolding on why he was right and the customer was wrong. Pretty petty.
To sum everything up, this place could be fun depending on who you play with in your party, who is your ref, and you want to take the risk of getting cut by glass.
They have some of the worst management I have ever seen. I actually don't even know if a manager was there, so maybe that's why. If they get some better systems in place I would be open to coming back. For now, I'll try...
Read moreGreat staff, fields, store, entertainment, environment & all.
Restrooms are nice with running water but could use a few more & maybe a changing area but for a paintball field, these facilities are great! Plenty of covered picnic tables & they're open year round!
Excellent variety of fields (airball, hyperball, woods, urban). & a variety of game types.
Prices are fair to cheap as far as paintball fields go. ~$70 per case of paint/2,000 rounds but they also sell in smaller quantities. $20 field fee/rental (par for the coarse/normal)
Paint quality was good/great (I played here during summer time, can't speak for winter paint but I assume that they keep a good rotation & keep their paint stored in a climate controlled environment i.e. air conditioning & heat).
Rental equipment was as good as any field I've played at (I've played pb since the late 80s & have played at SEVERAL fields). Some players would have occasional issues with their rental markers but all were standard & normal for paintball & were quickly taken care of.
Also a great place for beginners as well as more experienced players. Private parties also available. I loved the vibe, staff, fields, staging area, people/players (Pittsburghians!) & convenience of the "fill stations".
Easily a 9 out of 10! If...
Read moreNice speedball field. Other layouts were not set up by someone who is experienced in the sport. Very little movement and brush/tree heavy. Generally preference for parties over open play. Overall decent place. Would give four stars but some of the refs are incredibly bad. Definitely not all, some are great and the broader staff seem good. But, I have been and have seen others get ego tripped by unqualified refs who clearly don't care about the profitability of the field, and also don't seem to have almost any experience playing paintball. I always appreciate refs and understand their position, but even a ref at a point can just be a bit of an idiot. Only my experience, but really the field would be better off hiring 14 year olds who play to ref than most of their current staff. Have come to this field 4 times and overall the lack of professionalism is crazy from the refs. Swearing in front of young children, ego tripping kids as middle aged paintball refs, and just an extreme lack of interest in running games in a reasonably organized/quick manner (just losing the field money). Most of the refs don't even enter the fields here... Don't call people out... Getting tired of trying to support...
