I’m not one to write bad reviews, but this one is warranted.
I drove down from Martin County to visit friends in Broward and play golf. Played here a number of years ago and couple friends recommended this place and based on the reviews booked a round of golf.
Maybe it was just an off day, but I had a bad experience at the start!
The employee or “Pro” behind the cash register had a snarky and condescending attitude, just asking for some basic information was an inconvenience for him. The young men at the bag drop and starter were friendly and helpful, which was good.
I played the East Course, and for the price, this place was overrated and disappointing.
Members of my party told me the greens and bunkers were recently upgraded, but many of the greens had bare spots and rolled funky. The bunkers looked like they don’t even rake them, and fairways had dead spots everywhere. Did not look like a new “upgrade”
The groundskeepers working on the grass were a constant annoyance, they made noises while I was hitting and didn’t seem to care. One guy blasted me with some powerful blower he had and got debris all in my eyes!! I tried to tell a “manager” passing by on a green work cart, but he didn’t seem to care either. Oh well I guess. Lol
My buddies told me they think new management may be the cause for the recent decline, they said the prices have gone up but service and quality has gone down. Go figure!
Bad experience for me, for a mediocre product at a...
Read moreFather and I played jacaranda east today, very disappointed in conditions. I’ve maybe played Jacaranda 150-200 times in last 10 years some with and some without him. This picture was on the 18th hole in the fairway. Started noticing a decline in condition over the last 12 months or so and today pushed me to share this review. Every single bunker looked like this and green side was no better. The collars of the green were completely torn out and tee boxes were really something. Fairways were fine but grass in every single bunker?? Not grass shavings from mowers, actual grass growing in the sand in every single bunker. No warning or heads up about conditions of course, but the real disappointment in all this is they are charging $200!!! We have no problem paying green fees and play all around Florida so we are no stranger to a $200 a guy fee but this seems criminal. Heard whispers about a renovation coming next year but was excited to see so many times available today last minute but I guess I now know why. $200 for these conditions won’t bring us back after almost becoming a regular over the last 10 years. Public golf is expensive and I know that but a place you recommend to out of towners and a local staple really needs to take a look at what is going on out there. I’d love a answer from someone how they justify charging $200 a person with conditions like these and I won’t mention constant slow play because most have those problems but...
Read moreJacaranda is my favorite place to play. It is well managed, has professional staff in the pro shop, at the bag drop, as well as the starters and rangers. The course remains in manicured condition having withstood a record amount of “in-season” play. Continuing course improvements are evident, such as replacement sod on several tee boxes, (with a few more in rough shape), turf replacement elsewhere, weed killer everywhere; in waste areas, along cart paths, and when approaching greens.
As part of this review, it should be pointed out that several trees and palms have been removed. Many of these cuts were in strategic locations, (#6E, #15W, #16W) which speeds up the pace of play, yet detracts from the layout of the course. Several bunkers need attention as the underpadding has surfaced. In a few places the nylon netting holding down turf has also surfaced. (#2W, #13E) Starters and rangers should include key talking points to remind golfers to fill sand into divots, rake traps and fix ball marks. The GPS screen can suggest that golfers park behind the greens when finishing a hole which will speed up play. Also, the GPS “virtual fencing” has been turned off enabling players to drive where ever they want. Last, the course needs more roped off areas to limit carts especially after rain storms. That said, Jacaranda remains my...
