I often hike here since it's so close to my home. Rarely see more than one or two people on a weekday. It's interesting to see how the area changes with the seasons. Tends to be very quiet and you can get in a good walk (up to four miles) if you're ambitious. Lots of birds, (bluebirds, blackbirds, bluejays, cardinals, flickers, woodpeckers, ducks, geese, swans, etc.) especially in the Spring when the area bursts into color. One of my favorite places to walk. The Audubon society has taken this place a long way. There is ample parking for the place. Plenty of birds around to view and lots of nice sights. It's nice to walk up to the viewing platform overlooking the marsh and relax. Apparently theres otters here but I've never seen one. Read more"Warning": This is a wide open space type of trail. It is lovely and an interesting landscape to look at, but if you are used to wooded trails this is a surprise.
I say "warning" because this is not the place to be, without sunscreen, on a blazing hot summer day. There is no relief from the sun beating down, no shade. Again, it's lovely, but it's not a cool wooded walk.
