The unplanned stop on our offroad riding trip but it was so worth it. Our trip out on the trails took us to the mine and we thought we would just take a quick look around in the museum. Gosh the rich history in the museum was worth the stop. While there our group decided to hang around for the next tour, and boy that was the best idea. It was amazing to go in and learn about how mining was done years back. Where it all began. Took our tour with Michele, yes with one L, she was a great story teller and I highly recommend her. She was friendly and she tells the story of the mine with enthusiasm and gets folks involved to make it fun. Take a tour you will...

We tried 2 years in a row to do this. First year closed due to flooding. No problem understand year. In 2025 we went & were told running a little behind. We got there around 11 & next time was 12. No problem! Almost 2 hours later they had us wait because they knew there was a big group coming. I said there is a reason we didn't get to do it. They did refund our money but that was bad on their part. They should let people know about that they need good walking shoes & jackets. People came in flip flops & shorts. The part we were able to walk around in was neat but we wasted 2...

I’ve visited the mine several times over the last 15 years and have now taken the tour twice. This last time, Dale, the tour guide, was amazing. You can take a walking tour or riding tour. You will see are hear what mining was all about and what the minors faced.

If you’ve visited this place before, go back and experience all the work that was put in to make the tour and museum better. There is now a restaurant at the museum. Will be visiythe area again in October and we’ll return and tour again. This time we’ll go on a Sunday to take the trolley tour through the...

If you want to learn about how hard mining is and was, this is the museum to visit. It’s a moment in time that left me overwhelmed with respect for the miners and sadness for their lives. Hard lives that included the death of children due to mining accidents. Low pay and hard times but the miners kept our country running during two world wars. If you get a chance visit this museum and take the tour you will not forget it

The tour was very interesting. Michelle our storyteller was very entertaining. She even shared a picture of a coal miner's spirit that she captured on her cell phone. Pretty cool. I would highly recommend a visit during their open season. I can't wait to try the restaurant that's next door to it. P.S. Check out the blue orb that is in the bottom right-hand corner of my picture of our storyteller!?!
