This is a gorgeous spot if you time it right, and if you time it wrong then you may come away sorely disappointed. Chances are you're coming here to see the bowling ball rocks on the beach, so you need the time it at very low tide. Check the tide charts and come when low tide is at its lowest. If you come expecting to see the bowling balls during high tide you will be sorely disappointed. If that's the case, please do not leave negative reviews simply because you came here at the wrong time. Just understand that the bowling balls on this beach only appear during low tide, very similar to the Neskowin Ghost Forest on the Oregon coast. So you need to make sure you plan your trip to this beach accordingly. Assuming you planned your trip accordingly and you came at low tide, you won't be disappointed. The bowling balls are awesome and it's quite the the scene when everything lines up correctly. It can be a little tricky to get down here for some, but...
Read moreI visited this beach on July/2/20. I did not have to pay for parking, The parking is on the road. It is small area, probably can hold about 8 cars. The trail is a little tricky, it has 2 different ways to enter the ocean. I was hiking both. The one with the sign and the picture of Bowling Ball Beach was leading me to fascinating beach. The trail without the picture and the sign leading me to many steps and down to the ocean. it was a little steep but it was fun to hike since I had to crossover a lot of dry logs. As long as I enter the ocean the fun part was beginning. I saw interesting rock formations. It made me want to stay there a little longer not for the beauty of the ocean, but for those rock. They are a rock and rocks, but they are very special. They are building by the waves of the ocean. They are so interesting formations. I definitely try to head out as low tightest possible to see that unique rock...
Read moreSpectacular place, just a bit challenging. I'm adding photos which will show the path you take to bowling ball beach so you can be prepared. There is a good path at the beginning and steps have been made although they're irregular, and some are missing. At the end/bottom, they disappear into an enormous pile of driftwood, which you'll have to climb over a bit. After you're on the beach, it's divided by a stream which can be jumped by athletic adults, or you can walk down near the surf where it gets shallow - it may be seasonal. One of my photos shows it in the sunset. The geology is fascinating for more than the Balls, I've taken photos of the cliffs as well, but the other various rocks you'll see all look like they don't belong together. It would be so interesting to go with...
