Have been wanting to go to this place for 4 years, we finally got to go. They were finally open. They will be closing in September 2017 an then not reopen until the spring of 2018. This Fort is run by donations. The upkeep is done by donation visitors are encouraged to donate in order to keep the upkeep of the fort an to keep the fort open and running. There were lots of great things, they also have a general store that was open during the time we were there that had many items for sale lots of great things to see an buy. Took lots of pictures. They also have a campground area with a large pond. The park is bright with lights every year for Christmas. There's also a fishing and boat dock nearby as well as shelter houses and buildings for rent for special occasions. We really enjoyed our time here an the fact that they were open. Will be donating in the future. I encourage everyone to donate to help the Fort be able to stay open. I will add more information soon. Look forward to taking the family and going back.

The best part of this place is the players. They have no problem taking the time to answer your questions and teach you all they know. The Screaming, Dying Native was awesome.. Lolol. Well acted, bro. About the sound you would expect from a .50 lead ball All and all a good , wholesome, walk into the past of American history. Take your kids, break them away from their phones, let them see how "easy" life used to be, and maybe they will realize how good they got it. The store had some very cool old style but useful items like flint and steel that you can use to teach some new skills of survival for your kids. All and all a good experience not to be missed.

It was a bit underwhelming. Not a lot of information, and a pretty small fort - so you probably won’t spend much time here. It is free, so that makes a stop here worth it, and probably more so for families. There is a gift shop with a number of items. Overall though, I just feel like not a lot of effort has been made to make this an informative experience.

After attending the history walk, I must say the history was amazing. I love the attempts to stay in character and the determination of all actors to involve every attendant in the atmosphere. While older kids will probably enjoy the experience I do not recommend for families of younger children (5 and below) without discretion as the muskets are loud and there is to my surprise a part that included "human scalps" being dumped at my four year old's feet that very much concerned her. However it is still part of history. We...
