We rented a boat and traveled about 40 mins to the spring. We put down a deposit several days prior to ensure wehad a boat when we got to the spring. The woman at the boat shop did work with us, explained patiently and several times how the boats run, what to expect, and where to get gas. The gentlemen was also very kind and walked us through patiently. We rise of to the spring and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. The locals were welcoming and helped us anchor the boat. The water was waist deep and crystal clear. You could see baby fish swimming by close to the shore line. The kids were able to jump off the boat and into the water with no problem, they really enjoyed them selves. There were under cover detectives that sailed by us on a kayak I presume to keep the area safe. Wish we could've watched the sun set. We returned the boat by 4pm, making sure to stop for gas which was expensive. I always try to look to give my children experiences, and this was a great experience as they've never been on a boat outside of the staten island ferry. And an obnoxious group with blasting music throwing a show and making it less than pleasant for everyone around - families with babies that could not nap, groups that were there to enjoy some quiet time in Nature - we were not affected much by it, once we arrived early, did our paddling to the river and returned to that chaos, so we just left. The park should be firm about loud music. It completely takes the magic of that place away. That's my review. Otherwise I would...
Read moreThe spring run is very clear and beautiful. We love bringing out boat here and hanging out in the cool water. You're allowed to enter the spring by swimming only from the run. You're not allowed on land at all unless you enter the park and pay the entrance fee. They have people watching at all times. It gets pretty crowded and chaotic at times, it's a party area and I've seen many people almost wreck their boats into other boats and almost hit other people in the water. If you plan on going I recommend swimming in the roped off area where boats aren't allowed. It's much safer. Get there early on the weekends to get a good spot close...
