Army Surplus 1 — Attraction in Ponderay

I recently brought my small kids to Army Surplus One. It would have been reasonable for the owner to tell them not to move around and sit down. And I would have been ok with that. But instead, he made even my smallest child feel welcome. For my sons, it was a big day, because it was like the first “guy thing” we’ve done together in their short lives. Army Surplus of Sandpoint made the experience one that I will never forget: the day my sons (and daughter) accompanied me to their first rifle purchase. They gave me a great deal on some merchandise. But I’m not writing this review about the great deal I got. (Even though it was great). I’m writing because they made my family feel welcome. I have been frustrated that my oldest son (age 4) has expressed little interest in guns, camping, cowboys and Indians, etc. I tried different things to get him interested, but nothing has worked. Our trip up to Sandpoint was intended, in large part, to change that. To my total amazement, it has. He couldn’t stop talking about everything that he saw in the store. Would he have done that if he didn’t feel welcome? 4 year olds are smarter than they appear. He knew that he was treated with the same level of respect as any other customer. I feel that I wasn’t just sold army surplus merchandise. Rather, I felt like I walked out of your store with a better relationship. During the long car ride home, gone was the talk about iPads and movies and all the stuff that kids are so preoccupied with these days. This is my favorite store and by what I read so far. The public is willing to send money to help rebuild. I love this store and I would really like to see it rebuilt. Many people rely on this store for hunting supplies. So please rebuild. I was so sad when I woke up and I was told the army surplus burnt down. Please rebuild the cost it worth it and I believe you will be able to rebuild before hunting season. But hey if you don’t wanna rebuild buy the old Pizza Hut building! I really would like to see this...
