DO NOT BELIEVE ONLINE BOOKING.
There are no attendants on duty, and if the slot was open when they reviewed, it's a free for all. Similarly, if the online tracker says fully booked, DON'T BELIEVE IT.
Be advised, the location is gorgeous, the truck noise, dog noise, booking process all knock stars off.
BOOKING. Chaotic. No attendant, so expect to find the RIGHT BULLETIN BOARD, at the bathroom closest to the entrance, not the far bulletin board by the second bathroom. The back side will list the campsites occupied and those available, but it's honor system tracking since there's no staff.
When I arrived, 9/19, image attached, every space was labeled reserved, both on the placards and online. DON'T BELIEVE THAT. I found some other campers going on the scavenger hunt that was locating the right board with the information, cross referencing the outdated list with current occupations, and then booking offline based on that information. Bring a pen and credit card for this as the payments are cashless. EVEN SO my neighbor camper, who followed the list, double crossed an online booking made after they'd established their camp and had to move. I personally updated said list with both my neighbors, as none of the total four campers had updated the wipe off marker section of said list. Download the FULL site map before you go, as the numbering array is disconnected between lakeside sites, some of which are only for folks with bicycles or on foot, and parking spots. There are shared food lockers, which is nice, and the cleanest park bathrooms I've ever had the pleasure of using.
Dogs are welcome at the park, but with the stadium arrangement of tiers, their noises carry through the whole grounds.
Truck noise! Stadium arrangement means all sites are straight to the lake, with precious few trees. Across the lake is a major road used for logging, and the logging trucks stop at 11pm, and begin again at 3:21am. Bring earplugs, and be aware, they may...
ย ย ย Read moreThe campground is great. It is first come first serve so get there early. We camped there a couple weeks ago and had no problems. We decided to go back with with some family and had problems with the camp host. There are two camp host and the nice one was on vacation. The camp host that was on duty was very rude, she yelled at many campers during our stay. She yelled at us for bringing fire wood (2 weeks prior we were able to have a camp fire) we told her we won't burn it we just needed to make room to transport our kayaks to the lake. She got mad that we had two campsites, we had 8 people, 2 trucks and 2 utility trailers but according to her we could have fit in one spot and she had to turn families away because of us. She didn't listen that we wanted to be near a bathroom because of how many women were in our group, we paid for the spots so there shouldn't of been a problem, we were two families that just happened to be hanging out together. She even told us we were talking to loud when it was in the middle of the day and we were just playing games, nothing crazy. She yelled at a family because of their dog that she said wasn't on a leash when it was. She yelled at people for taking a trail that happened to go through a camp site. She made up her own rules and acted like she had authority over the entire area, threatening to get people kicked out of the park. She was non stop drama. I did end up calling the ranger station and reported her. If she wasn't there we wouldn't of had any problems. The lake is beautiful and worth the trip if you...
ย ย ย Read moreShort answer if it was just about the site itself it's a 4 star. I have been here before but unfortunately after this last time I will not be returning unless things change. I would like to say to all the campers there at this site between 29th of July and August 2 you all deserve a pat on the back. I have never seen a collection of different people with all types of backgrounds helping one another. From big RVs to single tents we all came together to help out one another.....with that said we had to come together as the camp "host" was anything but helpful to ANYONE. Lack of toilet paper for 2 days (not an exaggeration) and no soap provided (which since last year might be a change on the facilities) made things just gross. Yes it's a campground but clearly no one was called or even came to check on the restrooms for that time. I overheard (when filling up my water) an interaction between a new arrived camper and her which consisted of a the "host" losing her cool over literally nothing other than a new arrival asking a question. After which I apologized to the new camper stating "sorry, shes been like that before." The fact that another camper has to apologize for the "host's" actions is frankly embarrassing. Will this camp site still be popular, probably; unfortunately until a change is made to the "host" duties/attitude there will be one less camper to enjoy what would be a great experience. Once again thanks to all who came together to make something good out of this...
