A must see in the Olympic National Park. You will need a National Park pass or day pass to enter. The Ranger was very helpful. The drive to the Sol Duc Falls from the entrance was roughly 14 miles to the parking lot. However there are many side sites to see before hitting your destination. The parking spots are not enough during the busy season but there are more parking spots for those who tent camp, and the public, further down the road, but you will be backtracking a ways to the trailhead. Once you start at the trailhead it’s a quick descent down, but if you are unsteady on your feet I’d suggest bringing walking poles. It’s about .8 to 1 mile hike in to the falls but there are the normal roots and small rock to go over and some uneven ground. Nothing crazy and definitely doable. It’s worth the short hike in but be aware the only bathroom would be the one at the parking lot which was less than desirable. Also there are no trash cans so be mindful and leave nothing behind. I’d give it a 4 + star but it wasn’t an option. The 4+ was simply because the bathroom was disgraceful. Couldn’t even use. But overall a...

Sol Duc Falls is a must-see gem nestled in the heart of Olympic National Park. If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend arriving early in the day — not only to soak in the peaceful morning ambiance, but also to secure easy parking right at the trailhead. By mid-morning, the small lot tends to fill up, especially during peak seasons.
The short hike to the falls is both easy and scenic, winding through lush old-growth forest that feels like something out of a storybook. When you arrive at the falls, you’re rewarded with a stunning view: multiple streams of water cascading into a narrow, rocky canyon. It’s a great spot for photos and simply enjoying the power and beauty of nature.
Visiting early also means you’ll likely avoid crowds and long wait times at the viewing bridge. It was quiet and serene during our visit — just the sound of water and birds.
Overall, Sol Duc Falls is a perfect half-day adventure for nature lovers and photographers alike. Go early, take your time, and enjoy one of Olympic’s most iconic waterfalls...
Read moreLegitimately some of the best photos I have taken. You can't just seem to miss with Washington. Home runs all around.
The trail was relatively easy, but it does get muddy. I came here late in the evening, as it was nearing dark, but it didn't feel super cold to me. I even took some picture in one of those thin breathable athletic t-shirts. I did bring a Patagonia sweater for insurance, but not needed.
Make sure to bring proper shoes, as it does get muddy at the end, were you get to see the waterfall. Lots of mud water and mist, which is to be expected. There are a few benches for sitting.
There is a really cool ravine under the bridge you cross and there is even what seems to be a path under the bridge that you can go to get a closer look. I recommend you don't do it, very easy to slip and die. No one can come back from that...
There was plenty of parking when I arrived, but again, I did come later in the evening,...
