It's a local's favorite in the beach of Port Hueneme. I myself bike there in the Fridays with friend early in the morning to start the day. Visit it in early morning to have a great view of the sunrise or take a stroll before sunset to observe a breathe-taking view. This can also be a romantic place for romatic events such as proposals or stroll dates! Warnings: -Be cautious and vigilant when going to the boulder path to the look out. -Bathrooms are quite far so be sure to take a break in 1 of the 2 public restrooms available. - throw the trash away in the trash bin. -Do not go in windy days or be ready to get sand blown unto your face. -Follow walking areas and don't go to bike lanes; if you get hit by bikes, it will be your fault. For those who read this far, have a special note! Tips and bonuses: • Look for the weather and go in clear days or breezy days to fully feel the place. • Check the moon phase and tide level because there might be a small *secret* beach hiding.

Old historic lighthouse at the mouth of Port Hueneme harbor. Unremarkable, but the breakwater around it is somewhat scenic. Not worthwhile as a destination unless you are really into lighthouses. The lighthouse is fenced off (no access), but a sign (which has fallen off the fence and lying on the ground) states free tours are available the 3rd Saturday of each month (10 am - 3 pm). Easily accessible at the end of the road along the ocean just west of Port Hueneme Beach Park.

This is a nice place to bike or walk to. Beautiful photo ops. The light house used to be open for tours years ago, but I haven't been in a while, so I'm unsure if it still offers tours. But it is still a nice place to visit and take pics. Walk here all the time, pretty safe. I've never had an issue walking or biking here. Just keep an eye out for the skunks.

Offering some of the best views of Hueneme Beach, the water way entrance to the Port docks of Hueneme. This should be one of the first places to take your friends, family, co-workers or Boy Scout outing's.

Our Lighthouse looks especially great in the late afternoon, sunset or twilight. It's 3 story Art Deco-ish towering white walls stand out nicely against the rocky break-water, small sandy beach located just steps away. If your lucky, on most days and evenings you even get to listen to the Sea Lions yelling across the water at each other. Time your visit to get to observe one cargo ships coming into the port, we do get to see an assortment here. There are vessels from Germany and the United Kingdom bring in brand new cars as well as vessels coming in from Central America with loads Bananas, Pineapples and more.

Half the fun of going to see the Lighthouse is the walk there, again you can catch all the action going on at port as there is just high wire metal fence. That divides the small paved road from the actual port and Lighthouse. Consult the City's website for tour dates and times, as its closed off most of the time. The walk to the Lighthouse takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace, beware the many, many "Gatos" cat's that have made there home among the boulders of the break-water that protects both the small road and the port from the huge waves from flooding. Even so on stormy or really windy days, you take some amazing photos of waves crashing over the break-water and spraying sea water all over the place.

One last note, be sure to check the Port's Facebook page for arrivals/departures of cargo ship traffic as this to is very entertaining to see. Port Hueneme has a very narrow sea entrance, it takes skill full pilots to bring these vessels to the docks. Which by the way they share with our Naval Station just across the water.

Hope you will enjoy a visit to the Port...

Great tour by knowledgeable Coast Guard Auxiliary docents on the third Saturday of each month.

In addition to seeing the cool artifacts -- such as the original Fresnel lens hand-cut in Paris in the 1800s -- you can climb 50 steps and then up a spiral stairway (really more of a ladder) to take in the view from the top.

Down the beach by the pier is a great little fresh seafood restaurant, Surfside Seafood. My halibut tacos ($12) were great. They also serve Dole Pineapple whip (soft serve), wonderfully refreshing on a hot day ($4-5).

The tour is free but the parking is $4 for two hours, and you need cash. Then you walk a good half to three-quarters of a mile behind the dunes to reach the...
