Flash back. Back in 1964-1965 my family lived there on Ocean Drive just down the street from the Beachcomber Tavern (AKA, Lucille's Bar). I was an 8 year girl, one of 7 siblings. Anyhow, all of the neighbor kids would frequent Lucille's to buy penny candy she had in large glass jars on top of the counter. Yep, kids in a bar, no parent in sight. I vividly recall the red, yellow, blue and green sidewalk along the way--I absolutely thought that was the coolest thing, 2nd only to the beach. I have very fond memories of growing up there. At that time, the Silver Strand was the first beach/ocean I had even seen. It was LOVE at first sight. I found my way back to Oxnard several years ago, bringing my best childhood friend along. We stopped off at the Beachcomber and the lady/owner was kind enough to let us in (bar wasn't open yet) as I told her I grew up there 5 decades earlier and this was the fist time coming back. I shared a lot of great memories. It was a memorable day. I'm a Texan now but if I ever get back to Oxnard again I will drop by for a drink. Do you still have the shuffleboard table? I love your little bar. ...

Driven past hundreds of times but never stop. First impression was awesome. Great environment and atmosphere with the tavern. Everyone was cool and fun and very welcoming of me being there. Sammy the bartender was awesome. Very attentive to my drinks and everyone’s else’s drinks , knowledgeable on what he’s serving, and just a friendly attitude towards everyone there. Awesome local spot to get some great beers and wines. They have darts, a shuffle board table, and a digital jukebox to play your favorite tunes. I would definitely recommend the Beachcomber Tavern to anyone that is local, traveling through or the vacation rental people. I will definitely be...
Read moreThis might be my favorite little pub in the entire world. A block from Silver Strand Beach where you can watch the sunset and grab a brewski. Jim and August are genuinely lovely people who create a fun and welcoming environment for all who enter. Also one of the few pubs to offer Harp Lager which is one of my faves. The popcorn, board games, comfy couches, and back patio are all big plusses. The regulars at The Beachcomber Tavern also bring their pups, and Einstein is the best one! Definitely worth a visit if you're a local or just popping by from out of town. Much love from an old Newbury Park native now on the East Coast. You all made this trip home so worth it. Can't wait to come back and visit...
