The riverfront walk at Indiana Dunes State Park is a hidden gem that offers a serene and picturesque experience. The trail meanders alongside the river, providing breathtaking views of the water and the lush greenery that surrounds it. The path is well-maintained, making it accessible for walkers of all ages and abilities.

One of the highlights of this walk is the opportunity to observe a variety of wildlife. Birds, butterflies, and even the occasional deer can be spotted along the way, adding to the natural beauty of the area. The gentle sound of the river flowing creates a peaceful ambiance, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The walk also features several benches and picnic areas, allowing visitors to take a break and soak in the scenery. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, a family outing, or even a romantic walk. Don't forget to bring your camera, as there are plenty of photo opportunities along the route.

Overall, the riverfront walk at Indiana Dunes State Park is a must-visit for nature lovers and anyone seeking a tranquil outdoor experience. Highly...

Regardless of the time of year it is a beautiful place to go and walk or just listen to the water along the lakefrontIf you go in during the day when the pavilion is usually open you can actually see the history of the area and how the area was reclaimed and returned to its natural state from what it used to be. The lakefront beach area is not what it used to be which is unfortunate that is due to several bad winter storms , severe erosion of the beachfront and the slight increase in the water level of lake Michigan regardless of that it is still a beautiful place with several long walking trails throughout the reclaimed spaces. Note: Yes your GPS is accurate in taking you into a industrial area to gain access to the lakefront It is tucked back in the area If you're having a hard time finding it please look it up on the portage Indiana parks department website or the Indiana dunes website they will include directions on how to get there should your...

One of the tourist spots in Indian dunes national park ! Not a bad place to stop by !

Did not live up to my expectations especially after I visit the Indian dune national park and west beach !

Personally the beach here is not as clean as the other beaches I visited ! There are all kinds of trashes here ( glasses , broke. Toilet and even drug addicts vapers )! It will be awesome if the park can find some volunteers to clear up the beach! There are some suspicious activities around the beach here too , such as homeless people doing illegal camping here and doing suspicious stuffs! You need to be careful here if you have a little one with you ! And never come here alone with no one around you and in late night ! Definitely not a safest place !

Other than the above claim, the factories nearby are a bummer to the...

It was pretty cloudy today, but it was still quite lovely. It's impressive to hear of what it was like in the before they cleaned it up. However, all the steel mills are still nearby. With it being so cloudy out, it seemed a lot of the factory smoke was prsent. You couldn't see it, but you smelled it. It was a little hard for me to breathe and I am healthy, so keep this in mind if you have somebody that has trouble breathing take this walk. It is an easy walk from the parking lot and it is neat that you can see Chicago from this location. It was me seeing all the crashing waves because it made it feel like I was at the ocean.

This beach has definitely declined since we last visited a few years ago. The parking and facilities are still very nice (which is the only reason I gave it any stars), but the beach itself is in really bad shape. The trails to get to it are washed out / roped off, and parts are the original trail have fallen and are almost completely underwater (see sunken circular piece). Unfortunately there was no clear way to get to the water nor was there a place for my daughter to play in the beach sand. We ended up leaving after a few minutes playing in a small sand area up by the building.
