Very popular beach on summer days. The wait to get into the beach took at least 20 minutes on a 90F ☀️ Sunday 2pm. Nonresidents pay $12 per car to get in. Once we got to the payment booth it's then we realized that the delay was due to the processing speed for the 2 lanes instead of parking lot being full 😕 After we got through that all was good. Beach was crowded as expected, lots of activities going on. From time to time there are reminders from the lifeguards announcement about their no grill and no outside alcohol on beach policy. There's changing rooms, rinsing area, bathrooms for everyone. There's also cafeteria and ice cream booth for food options (that we didn't use). Other than the long waiting line upfront the beach was nice. We felt safe knowing that the lifeguards were on top of everything going on. Of note: Cell phone signals were baaaad! Have a plan if you're meeting up with friends at the beach as there's no easy way to communicate 😆

Lovely and well maintained beach within the National Park System. It can be crowded, but still plenty of space if you walk down the shoreline a ways. A National Park Pass is required unless you are a resident of that area. The passes can be picked up from the vistor center that is just a couple of miles away. The National Park pass gets you into all of the beaches, not just Porter, but Porter seems to be the nicest beach. BARK Ranger Program as well. So dogs on leash are welcome. Be sure to pick up after your dog.

We were told to leave and turn around by am officer since there was no room and everything was occupied

There were about two police vehicles near this area

And once we returned the vehicles behind us were also asked to leave by the same officer on a megaphone.

The officer sounded upset and we were confused since we were trying to ask if we could turn around legally so we could leave but there was not much room to do so since towards the left there was a dead end.

Honestly horribles experience.

We went to Kemil Beach and it was packed, so we then went to Washington Park Beach and found parking and alot of friendly faces!!!

It was only 15mins away from...
