The host were so accommodating! Very polite and helpful.... They what about and beyond to make sure we had a good time letting us know about everything the park has to offer... Showed us in-depth were the trails were and overall we're just amazing. These hosts are by far the best hosts we've ever encountered at a campground. The views are amazing and whole campground is very clean. They clean the bathrooms a lot and dump all the trashes frequently. They go around making sure everyone also was quiet after 10:00 which is awesome cuz a lot of posts don't do that. There's a whole lot of goldfish though in the ponds... Someone must have dropped one off and didn't realize how much they ruined the area by having that evasive species in there. Believe the ponds havent been stocked since June... We only caught really tiny trout and we noticed everyone around us also did the same. Along with a...

CLOSED still, July 27, after those crazy winter rains/snow. You CAN drive up the mt road till 7 miles (20 mins) short of Balch park though, and it’s a beautiful drive with no people and sweeping desert mountains. Just after the pine trees start it closes. You only get relief from the heat wave we’re having in the last few mins and it’s only from like 100 in the valley to 93° on most of the drive to 86° where you have to stop and turn around.

The air is clean and rich with nature greenery scent. The road is being reconstituted..2-3 areas have newly built gravel sections. No idea when the last bit will get repaired and the...

Very beautiful scenery. Loved how peaceful it felt around campsites. Campsites had tent and RV sites with hookups. Bathrooms were nearby campsites throughout the park. Each site had bear boxes and courtesy trash bins. There were camp hosts there, as well as running water, and electric hookups. The road going up there was not kept up very well, and was a bit winding. The camp hosts had travel trailers, so I assume you can haul one up there. Going back down the mountain the opposite way was beautiful, but it took a little bit longer. I preferred going through balch park road instead; which was the...

Took a day trip to Balch Park and stayed around the lake while my son was fishing and my daughter and toddler were hunting for frogs. I love to watch the ducks on the lake and hearing the deep croaks of the frogs. It's a beautiful place and there is a lot for kids to explore and trails to walk. Dogs are allowed on a leash. We went on a Sunday and it was not crowded at all. It was a fun day.

This is one of my favorite places when it comes to camping and fishing because it has some of the most beautiful and amazing views especially because it's in sequoia national forest with giant sequoia trees and beautiful fishing ponds, not to mention that it's a perfect place for the family and friends to camp and enjoy the outdoors together.
