Light of the Immortal SpiritLight of the Immortal Spirit
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ There’s something magical about this place in autumn. The air is crisp, carrying that gentle chill that wakes you up and makes you breathe a little deeper. From Gresham, your eyes can wander toward the soft rise of the South Washington hills of Camas and La Camas, where the sunset paints the sky in shades of orange and red. The trees are still holding their leaves for now, as if reluctant to let go, and the result is a canvas of color that feels alive with the season. What made the visit even more special was watching a family gather with a photographer, capturing their memories against this backdrop. It gave the space a sense of warmth and belonging, like a reminder that these hills and skies are meant to be shared, celebrated, and remembered. If there is one imperfection, it’s the facilities. The bathrooms are in need of care—soap is missing, and the smell can be a bit unpleasant at times. Bringing hand sanitizer or wet wipes makes the visit much more comfortable. Practical note for visitors: the gates close at 8:00 p.m. sharp, so plan to head back around 7:30 at the latest to avoid being stuck on the trails or inside the park property. And once the sun dips, the trails go dark—there are no lights except for those near the parking lot and the visitor center. Sunset is the perfect natural signal to start your way back while there’s still a glow to guide you. Still, despite those small cautions, this is a place where nature’s artistry and human moments blend together. A spot where sunsets linger a little longer, and where families find the perfect setting for their story.

This is a beautiful, big park with plenty of trails to explore. Some paths are shaded and perfect for hot days, while others open up to wide views and grassy areas. It’s very dog-friendly, and there are quiet corners if you just want to sit and relax. Great spot for walking, jogging, or simply enjoying nature without leaving the city.
