I come in here once a week, once every two week. Great food, excellent servers and bartenders, fun, friendly, simpatico. But now they have reduced their salsa from a large stone metate type bowl to a small plastic bowl that is probable less than a third of the salsa (see photo) And then they want to charge another $1.50 for additional chips or salsa. I like my chips with salsa, and then I like putting salsa on my enchiladas, chile relleno or chimichanga. I’ve never had to ask for extra salsa, the large stone bowl was always enough. I understand if some idiots come in, sit at the bar, order a beer then want to sit there for two hours watching football and constantly ask for more (free) chips snd salsa. But for the people who come in and order a full meal to be charged for salsa to put on their food, that’s just usury. So, like I said: great wait staff. Good food, but decision by management to charge for salsa for diners to put on their food is asinine. I’ve been coming in here almost 20 years, before it was Ixtapa, when it was Cocina de Garcia, Tonight is the last time I’ll be in here. ———————————————————-/ Ha ha! Their reply to this review, posted minutes after my review and exactly like their replies to other critical reviews just goes to show no one at restaurant or corporate actually reads the reviews. The replies are a bit that automatically replies with a canned reply to any negative review. No wonder they don’t improve. This really was one of my favorite Mexican...
Read moreWe live in gresham over 27 years this place was named something else when it became Ixtapa we support them. During Covi all rhe Restaurants have been hits very hard so we always support them and was helping that's maybe New cook needs improve in the kitchen or for whatever reason we know how hard it is to retain staff or training them so we overlook for the food and prices, and services but we keep hoping but you would expect if you order a burritos with meat and since I'm paying 11.00 for a burritos 🌯 just meat only I would expect to get meat not 3 table spoons of meat but a little hamburger than that and my husband ordered shredded chicken tamales he expect some chicken instead of just corn 🌽 wrapped tamales very little sauce we know food costs it rising but let not be so cheap with meat and sauce with your customers.we will not coming back. Thankyou for your response I don't mind paying for our meals the good response from the restaurant should happen in the restaurant when the customer brings to your attention that we paid for the meal if you have a good manager he should have took one off. Since we communicated and complaints about the meal you don't even have a manager come at all . Before you have a nice manager we have brings many business associates to your place and staff members meeting....
Read moreThese folks are super friendly, professional, and very efficient at getting some of the best tasting food to your table! We have been coming here for several years now, and they seriously treat us like honored guests every time we come in. They're happy to talk about their food, what's in it, how it's prepared, and the best Mexican beer or tequila that pairs well with it. We would much rather sit in the restaurant than get food to go, but tonight that was our only choice, and the wonderful Ixtapa staff did not disappoint. And, all their food is 20% off until the restrictions are lifted. Of course, I gave them back the 20% as my tip because we certainly hope they survive this. Keep up the good work!
Update 9/26/20: I feel compelled to add to this previous review by giving even more praise to Ixtapa for their hard work with ensuring our orders are and have been absolutely spot on since we started getting to-go food since the pandemic started. We have never once had an incorrect order, and we don't even feel the need to check our bag to make sure everything is correct before driving home! Please, if you love Mexican and Tex-Mex food, you want a good amount of food for your buck, and you want to support a local business to keep them alive during these crazy times, order...
