It's a beautiful spot. I go here and to First Landing if I need a nature fix. I used to live in the mountains and it reminds me of the trails back home. It feels more claustrophobic than First Landing, but I vastly prefer that. Unlike FL, you can't really get lost on these trails. My dog loves to chase the rabbits on the path behind the bridge (which I'm hoping is rebuilt soon). The people who maintain this place care a lot about it...hard not to support that. It's a great spot for running too. The humidity isn't dense and it doesn't collect deeper into the woods like a lot of nature preserves, so it's ideal for running in the summer. It's probably not the best place for kids. People seem love to smoking weed here (probably teens who want to hide it from their parents). However, if I did have a kid, I'd take them to the playground. One of the cooler-looking playgrounds in the area. If you have a boat, the water trails are a nice added touch as well. I love the chalkboard on the back path and random sheet metal artistry along the way too. Great...

What a great park! The walking trails in this park are well maintained and it's a beautiful walk through the nature. Different bird calls are often heard walking along these trails. We've also spotted several different varieties of butterflies! The playground is lots of fun for children. No swings but lots of climbing structures (at a safe height) that the kids thoroughly enjoy. The wooden structure/hut is an active art installation that allows kids/adults to take part by adding/subtracting various twigs and sticks to the structure! Beautifully painted signs of butterflies (pictured), bats and more area wildlife are found along the trails, adding even more color and beauty to the already scenic views. Plenty of benches along the trail allow one to rest easily and plenty of trails are covered, staying nice and shaded in the hot sun. There are a good bit of mosquitoes which is about the only downside but if you're like me, bathing in bug spray takes care of that and allows for the...

This place is sacred. Very smelly. You can see the Jordan bridge and the glorious trash burning facility from half the park. It feels like a small Victory in the fight against turning Portsmouth into a hellscape. There's so much wrong with this city, and this tiny little parking lot sized nature park is one of the best things this city has to offer. The fact that it's close to a skate park is pretty cool too and it's near one of the best seafood restaurants in VA (Darla's on US17) is what brings it to a ⭐⭐.

I love this ambitious little project. I just hope one day it can buy the land the trash plant owns and dismantle and revitalize that part of the bay too.

The kids playground looks dope, I'm too old for it but if I were a kid this woulda been the second or third litest playground I played at in Hampton Roads.

The place could use more trash cans and some of the...

Nice area and multiple trails to explore. It is pretty small so you can probably spend an hour or less and see everything. It's a nice place to take your dog for a walk. However, despite clear signage saying to keep dogs leashed everywhere, mine was almost attacked by a Cane Corso which was off-leash. This is clearly the fault of the owner and not the park. I would just be mindful of these potential situations. Also ensure you keep your dog on a leash, especially if its recall and obedience is not proofed for off leash adventures!

This is a great place for a walk or a kayak launch. I come here a few times a week with my dog for walks. The on site crew is very polite and friendly. Most days there is a Portsmouth police officer on site so its a safe park for family activities. The only downside to this park Fire ants in large mounds. Yes they treat them but they are plentiful. And yes this southern Va. On the water so use caution snakes are around. If you are an out door person check this little park out.
