July 26th at close to 4, I came up here with two friends and one of their parents. I am a service dog handler, and need to have my service dog with me. This is also the reason I did not ride the coaster, and was in the hallway.
While waiting, a man comes in with two french bulldogs and allows them to jump on other customers. As I see this, I go to a seperate hallway to minimize the interaction between the two dogs and my service dog. My service dog has been previously attacked, and I in turn am nervous around other dogs that I dont know.
While waiting on the members of my party, one of the dogs either breaks off of its leash, or was never on one to begin with, and rushed up to me and my service dog. It proceeded to bite and attack my service dog, who reasonably started freaking out.
The man came and collected the dog with a quick apology. We were minding our own business. I checked my dog for injuries and stayed in the hallway where yoy depart from the ride, hoping my party would be back soon.
The man soon returns and starts giving me a half assed apology. He told me that they were service dogs for his "uhh...." and then continued rambling to me. They very clearly were not, they behaved nothing like a task trained service dog (or one in training), and were obviously dog aggressive. I believe he was a worker or manager, as he then told me that 'he didn't know there were other dogs in here' And that 'they're locked up in another room' until I leave.
This is completely unacceptable. I have spent the past two weeks trying to get the security footage of the event, which they denied me. The owner was fumbling and stuttering on the call, trying to excuse himself as being a new business. There is no excuse, a business is supposed to ask two legal questions when a dog enters their establishment; "Is this a service dog that is task trained to mitigate a disability?" And, "What task has the dog been trained to perform to mitigate the disability?" Neither of which were asked to me, and clearly not asked to the man. Anybody with common sense would know that those two dogs were not service dogs. This could have been completely avoided. This was tampering with my medical equipment, which is a felony. I am completely and utterly ashamed of this business, they know they can do better and should be ashamed as well.
They are lucky that I dont follow up with legal action, as this has unraveled many of the thousands of hours of training for my service dog. She is now nervous and hunkers down when she hears a dog bark in public. Like I said, this was unnecessary and 100% avoidable.
Aside from this, there were SO many flies in the waiting area that it was unbearable to stand or sit in there, but the only other option was the 90 some...
Read moreMy wife and I took 2 of our grandchildren at opening time (11 a.m.) on a Saturday morning in July. This is the first season of operation for this facility, and it's still a little ruff around the edges. Check-in and ticket purchases were a little clunky, requiring online registration and waiver acceptance before moving to a kiosk for ticket purchase. Not too bad... just a little involved. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It was obvious that safety was a priority to the staff. They had a little trouble with the computerized control system and had to reboot it while we waited buckled in. I can't give 5 stars, but I'm still giving 4 because we all enjoyed the ride and the prices were reasonable. After these folks operate for a while, work some bugs out and continue improvements... 5 stars...
Read moreThis was the highlight of our day. We were so excited and the staffs enthusiasm even made it better. I always say West Virginia has the kindest humans. However I think they are all employees here! The man running the slow done station on the ride was so fun to talk too and really was excited about working there and helped us with some local places to eat. The young adults were really kind and greeted you with eye contact which never happens anywhere except this state!! The smell of lumber through the place was fantastic and the attention to detail in the area where there is holding for the ride like the coal on the ceiling was really cool! We didn’t wait at all but I can imagine the place...
