Beautiful secluded beach. Calm turquoise waters. The clarity of the water was amazing even at a depth of 4 feet. The waves are gentle and currents mild. Playa Plata is on the south side and prone to sea weed washing up on the shore this time of the year but relatively less when compared to some of the other beaches. Once you leave the paved road it’s off roading up to the beach. We drove slowly and cautiously in our Kia Sol and made it to and back fine. Steer clear of the plants with thorns growing on either side. There are no vendors or bathrooms here. We visited on Friday and there weren’t too many people here In all we enjoyed our time here and hope to be back

Playa La Plata is perfect for couples who want time alone since it's so far from the other beaches and so large. We went to the very end of the road, and then found an empty spot to park on the way back. There's a short path from the parking spot to the beach. There's very little shade and no amenities so take an umbrella and an ice chest. Beautiful experience!

Did a beach day on our second day here in Vieques and out of the first three this was so gorgeous and also so private. There were not many people out there! I would recommend bringing an umbrella if being under the sun the entire time isn’t your time. Definitely worth a visit! The water was so clear and the sand so soft.

When we went on June 20th, there was unfortunately huge piles of seaweed covering the entire beach. It smelled bad and made it practically impossible to even get in the water. We only stayed about 2 minutes. However, i can definitely say the view was stunning, the water was beautiful, and the little bits of sand I could see sticking out from under the seaweed looked bright white. It is a long drive down a narrow gravel road, not something I would feel too comfortable driving a rental golf cart in fyi because it will track up dust. Once at the beach, there are little secluded spots to park in that allow for some privacy from other beach goers (however, there was no one else there when we went). I didn't see any bathrooms so plan ahead. Wish we could come back when the beach...
