I'm a migrant, an immigrant and like so many immigrants leaving their country or space of comfort to seek out opportunity, bliss and the pursuit of happiness, I am not Puerto Rican but am an Afro- Latina Panamanian. My residency began in 2013 and despite the devastating Hurricane Maria, I've returned to launch my business and practice Metamama Medicina Retreats & Salon and had the need for more quiet and greater discipline. I could not be more pleased with my choice of Vieques as my new homebase. The power of Isla Nenana is real as soon as you see her. Once you step foot on her shores, many never go home, because they have found their true ' happy place'. Known as one of the most beautiful beaches ☀🌴👙🌊 in the world, Caracas beach has sand so fine, you don't need a towel and people so sweet, you may forget something like a towel and your fellow beachcomber will share theirs. Turns out I'm not the only one who finds time to eek in a quick dip between gigs, Ludacris was spotted in my favorite😍💕 spot, literally on the same day of my lady visit. In my role as A Cleaner, aka Shamana I enjoy getting my clients out of their pain, trauma DNS suffering. The power, grace and beauty of this beach will take your woes away and soothe your soul. So, when you come to visit, or if you plan on staying, you may see me and a client in my earth therapy sessions with the ocean as our couch and the sunset as our...
Read moreI know many folks have said this, but this truly is a dreamy beach! White sand, warm water, gentle waves, and once you get past the breakers, you just float. There are families here and teenagers and young adults. A great mix of people just laughing and enjoying the warm water. People reading on the beach. Plenty of parking.
Here is what it is not. Not a good surfing beach. When I say that there are gentle waves and breakers, I mean, really, really really gentle waves and breaks.
Not great snorkeling, but that could just be me in the wrong spot. I had a hard time finding a good snorkeling spot. Even though we went out with our snorkels. We went to the left (while facing the waves) and perhaps there’s something better to the right. We thought we had read that good snorkeling was to the left.
Not very shady! So bring your umbrellas!
My pictures don’t do this beach justice. It really was...
Read moreVieques, PR We just visited on 6/21/25. Getting there was not the most fabulous experience. We took the ferry from Ceiba. It’s very cheap. For two seniors it’s $4.00. If you bring beach chairs , coolers etc it’s extra for each item. I thought the ferry would be like here in NY. Where you could see outside and walk on the deck. But you’re enclosed and can’t see a thing. With that said we called a taxi service and paid $60 round trip. Horses roam freely , even on the beach property and their poop is everywhere. The beach was covered in sea grass. I didn’t go in the water but my husband did. He said once you get beyond the grassy area in the water, it’s clear. If you arrive early you can get a covered area with table and chairs. Not sure that I would visit this beach again. I’ll try a...
