Great out-of-the-way protected beach to relax with the family. The view of the waves breaking over the barrier rocks, along with searching for shells and sea life in the shallows and tidal pools is a great time for young and old(er) alike. Also Great view of the “Birth of the New World” statues. Lots of little bars and Pincho stands nearby to grab some food and drinks. Parking is in front of an abandoned building or along the side of the road.

El día estuvo estupendo, mucha brisa, mucho sol y oleaje fuerte. En realidad estábamos en la Poza de Don Guelo a pocos minutos de Playa Caracoles y muy lamentablemente vimos desde lejos como dos personas luchaban por salir del mar y mantenerse a flote en el oleaje fuerte. No entendíamos como estaban allí con el oleaje tan fuerte que había, se nos hacía imposible de creer. Orabamos y rogabamos para que salieran a salvo y para que viniera la ayuda rápido, y estuvieran con vida. El desenlace fue muy triste, la persona que vimos luchar por salir del agua se ahogó. La otra persona gracias a Dios lo pudo arrastrar hasta la orilla. Queríamos hacer algo pero estábamos al otro lado de esa playa, muy lejos y sin recursos. Lo que presenciamos hoy nos afecto mucho. Lamentablemente lo vimos también en las noticias de las 4:00 pm. Nuestras condolencias a esa familia de Arizona.

We parked on the road and went through an entrance that said Do Not Enter. There is a small path through some trees that opens onto the beach. The path is dirty. The beach is beautiful and secluded, mostly families with children. There isn’t much shade. It is a great place for children because it is shallow and warm BUT BE CAREFUL not to go out beyond thigh/waist high on an adult. My 10 year old son was almost swept away by a rip current until a man swimming nearby went after him. The water is perfect until a point where it’s not and it’s difficult to see until you’re in it. Beautiful and serene, but be very cautious and go in the water...

We went today, the parking lot has been closed all week but we found a place to park and walked to it. I got up to chest high water and the undertow caught me and pulled me out to several feet over my head. If you go in the water stay in the shallow water, I'm talking thigh high tops. The view is beautiful and we saw several pelicans fishing on the rocks. I found the best shells here, still small things but...
