The most beautiful beach I have seen in my life. Soft, fine white sand and crystalline turquoise water with a downward-sloped shoreline. Tortugas circular shape creates a calm “bay” where catamarans can anchor, we swam and saw silver fish in the shallows. No seaweed or seagrass in sight. Take a short walk towards the western end of the beach where rocky sections of shore create large tide pools you can swim in while the surf surges through.
To get to Playa Tortuga, we hiked from Culebrita Beach over the island for an adventuresome 10 minutes through rocky, desert-like terrain with signage for unexplored ordinances and highly poisonous trees.
