Pretty boring arboretum. This arboretum has now been a work-in-progress for fifteen years but it's remain nearly unchanged.
There aren't many trees, it's more of a trail through some grassy fields---so I'm not sure if it should really be called an arboretum. Most of the park is unshaded and exposed. The plants here are uninteresting compared to the UofI arboretum (or even some of the other gardens across the WSU campus).
The arboretum's planning is bizarre, with saplings planted with almost no irrigation. There's what-looks-like a labyrinth that someone planned years ago, but never actually completed. The pond is pretty grody most times and is a breeding ground of mosquitos. Would...
Read moreI'm having a hard time deciding how to write this review. Is the Arboretum new? Was it just launched in the last year or two? Giving it the benefit of the doubt, I'd like to think it's just underway. The problem, you see, is that there's not a lot of trees in the arboretum. There's some fine paths that run you around a large grassy lot but, there's only a few spots where trees have been planted on purpose, mostly poplars and firs. There is a large quadrant of the arboretum that's overgrown with indigenous plants. There's a few trails that meander though it and are kind of fun to explore but mostly go nowhere. It would make for a nice place to get a run in, with all the...
Read moreSad and disappointing. Of the entire "arboretum", maybe 10% of it has trees. As for the small forested area, it is very overgrown and undermaintained. The pond is disgusting, looking more like a swamp. There's also three parts of the forested trails that are blocked by down trees, that have remained untouched for months. I've been here multiple times since last summer, and it gets worse each time I'm here. It's an abandoned project that no one seems to care enough to regularly maintain. It could be amazing if some effort was...
