I am currently on-leave for personal reasons as a volunteer here. But, I have been coming to this studio, off-and-on, for years.
It has not mattered whether I volunteer here... or 'just' utilize Open Studio on Saturday. Or, when I've needed to, engage in the Art Abilities Program. Whether I'm glazing touch stones or worry stones for purchase or painting a project for my own purposes... Whether I've interacted with clientele as a volunteer or put on the headphones to lose myself in my art. I have had great experiences here. And, I am free to be who I am. My problem was and is not with the skill level of my art. Although, I have yet to see anyone judged for that at Art Z. Because, that's not what this place is about. My issue is having to conform or act normal. It's refreshing not to have to do that and that allows for better art-ing all around. Where else can you see the young making a homemade marble maze? Or the more mature painting landscape on a block of wood, using a make-up brush? Nowhere else.
If my almost 7-year-old niece was on here, she would agree. I don't think I've ever seen her so involved in art vs. when...
Read moreI am SO Glad we stumbled across this art studio! The open art on Saturdays was a perfect way to spend my 4 yr old little artist birthday!! She loves doing art & this was the perfect place for her little creativity to flow freely! Even my 10 yr old had a blast being creative on his own making whatever he dreamt up. The creative energy just flows out the doors of this place...and thanks to the owner! She really lets everyone feel welcome in their own skin . It's a beautiful place to be. We will definitely be going...
