a tropical rainforest adventure 🌿✨🥥 🔖 SAVE this post + follow @thelesbianpassport for more travel tips and inspo 🇵🇷 puerto rico has SO much to offer when it comes to ecological diversity and a must-visit is its rainforest 🌴 el yunque is the only tropical forest within the U.S. national forest system and covers more than 28,000 acres. visiting the forest is the perfect day trip too, as it’s just about a 45-minute drive from the metro San Juan area 🥭 I booked my tour through @getyourguide and had the best time taking part in the cliff jumps, rope swings, natural waterslide, and immersive rainforest hike are you adding this to your puerto rican travel itinerary? 💭 • • #getyourguide #solofemaletravel #sofetravel #budgettravel #puertorico #explorepuertorico #travelphotography #travelblogger #traveling #cheaptravel #lgbttravel

Description
El Yunque National Forest is a tropical rainforest in northeastern Puerto Rico. From El Portal Visitor Center, a walkway winds through the surrounding treetops. Trails run to La Mina waterfall and Mount Britton, then up to the high-altitude dwarf forest. In the south are ancient petroglyphs, made by the area’s indigenous Taíno people. The forest comes alive with the nightly calls of coquí tree frogs.
