We enjoyed visiting the El Manto River Access area. Close to the American River, it offers an ideal locations to connect with nature without having to venture too far outside the city.
Majestic trees line the banks, providing cooling shade on hot days, but on this cold winter day, we stayed close to the car, yet we were greeted with beautiful views of the flowing river.
One of my favorite activities is walking or cycling along the paved bicycle path that winds parallel to the river from Folsom to Sacramento. It's great for a stroll or bike ride and wildlife spottings are common.
After working up an appetite from hiking or biking, there's nice spots here for a picnic and nap on the grassy areas and benches ideal for dining beside the natural scenic backdrop.
