Rancho Santa Margarita Lake Park — Attraction in Rancho Santa Margarita

The lake is absolutely beautiful. I live across the street and I like to take late night walks around the lake and/or sit on one of the many available benches and just relax and look at the water and the ducks. You can also fish on the lake but I never have... yet. During Christmas, they have a large Christmas tree on the south end of the lake. During the Christmas tree lighting ceremony they have every year, Mr and Mrs Claus comes in on a boat. They give gifts to the children and there was a live band. On July 4th, fireworks are shot from the the west end of the lake next to the beach club. All the locals lay down blankets ahead of time to watch the fireworks. It's a great time for everyone. There's a circuit course for exercising and on the north end of the lake, there's a small amphitheater amongst the large boulders. There are paddle boat rentals from the beach club. The beach club, open to local residents, has a beach/pool and a small multipurpose room. I believe you can rent the room for special occasions. Virtually a perfect mile around this scenic and beautiful lake , a great place to stoll at your leisure and take in the experiences that you will encounter . You will encounter the el lago wich is a private beach club that is open to local residents and their guest , that offer sandy beaches and bbq pits and picnic tables ,shaded areas to spread a blanket and picnic. You will encounter majestic views of the saddle back mountains as they rise up above the perfectly maintained landscape and red terra cotta roofs of the Spanish style villa's that adorn the lake side . You will see a market plaza that includes Carmelitas Mexican fine dining lake side , The blind pig that offers burgers beer and a variety of Midwestern grub yummy , theirs yup a Starbucks and several other little shops and boutiques so stretch your legs or just chill . Gorgeous, well maintained lake with a paved walking path for you, your kids, and your pups! There is lovely grass and trees, ducks, and a stunning view of the Saddleback Mountains all the way through. There are also resting benches that are great for meditating, as well as fitness spots if you also want to workout. From the lake is also a plaza with many great restaurants, cafes, groceries, (and also where you can park). I really love that as a woman I feel perfectly safe to walk my fur baby at night here because it's very well lit even at night and there are residential homes which surround the lake, so I feel very safe every time.
