Historic Hedden Park has always been one of my favorites! I grew up on a street that was walking distance for 22 years of my young life. I could take Reservoir Ave or walk through the woods and find the trails to get to the main park. Not only are there tons of trails for walking and hiking, the scenery and the views will take your breath away. Winter, summer, fall and spring. The abundance of trees and mountains are just beautiful! My favorite season is in the fall when the leaves are starting to change color. It’s just breathtaking! I also love going after a big storm. The streams are overflowing with powerful water rapids. My favorite spot to visit is Indian Falls. It has multiple water falls running off enormous rocks all the way down the mountain (I added pictures with this review). You have to take a trail that’s about a ten minute walk to reach it, up hill, but it’s well worth it. The trail is located at the second entrance bottom parking lot. I always visit this spot every time I visit Hedden Park. It’s my happy place, my me time, my therapy. You also can picnic pretty much anywhere in the park, even in the woods by the trails and streams. They have tiny BBQ pits where you can cook and picnic tables. They also have a main picnic area located at the center of the park that is under a big gazebo like structure. Restrooms are also located there as well. Also, bring bread or snacks! The ducks in the main pond always love to come and visit and snack. It’s a great place for all ages and especially kids. Dog owners will love this location as I brought my childhood dog and recent dog for walks in the trails and throughout the park. They love it just as much as I do. If you have never been to this location I 100% recommend it! I promise you will become a frequent flyer...
Read moreVisiting Hedden Park is always fun. Whether it is summer, winter, or fall, it is always a bliss. But just like everyone, my favorite season is fall. We have been visiting this park for the last 20 years to capture the best colors at our doorstep. It has four different entrances, each providing different experiences as you step in. Capturing the fall colors and tree over the small runaway lake is the best part. We bring most of our guests for a picture session to Hedden Park. We will continue to visit this serene park, with great hiking places, water streams, and a playground for kids, teenagers, and casual walkers. This park can provide entertainment to anyone of any age. It also has a great gazebo, which got updated a couple of years before covid, for all your birthday parties,...
Read moreSeems secluded, like a pearl inside its shell. There is a lake, wildlife who seemed undisturbed by our presence there. Beautiful shady areas with brooks and streams that give you that serenity feeling. Picnic areas for coal grilling. Only disappointment: people leave behind plastic cups and bottles. Geez!! We were just looking for a peaceful retreat, ended cleaning some of that mess. Hopefully if you go, please just take your garbage with you. Luscious foliage, plants and tree diversity to enjoy it to the max. There's a little kids area playground. Says 5 to 12 y.o. I would say it's more like 3 to 8. There's a big gazebo, bathroom facilities fairly clean and plenty of parking on shaded areas. All in all, a little gem with easy access from the center of Dover Township, NJ...
