Winery has a lively interior. Grandiose in scale but with a homey, comfortable feel. Selection of tasty wines and ciders, plus a cute range of gifts.
The PA Rennfaire is one of the best such events I have yet seen (as someone who travels across the country to participate in Renaissance Festivals).
The entire site is made up of beautiful permanent buildings and paved roads creating one of the most wheelchair and stroller accessible Rennfaires in the country.
The Royal Court and other character actors are fantastic in their wit and ability to interact with the public. Everyone is incredibly talented particularly musically and many of the actors also have been sigjted playing instruments and singing beautifully, often creating small pickup musical groups randomly about the Shire and performing inspirational and danceable tunes for anyone fortunate enough to be within earshot.
The formally scheduled stage shows are endlessly entertaining and the quality of the performers is second to none. (Although the hilarious and death-defying performances of Paulo Garbonzo are particularly missed in recent years.)
The PA Ren Faire has countless quality musical and comedic acts, and there is no shortage of equally talented merchants who add their own character and flair to an already magical experience, really solidifying the fantasy. Earthly Leather Design situated in the heart of the behind The Globe stage is a particularly impressive shop. Other Merchants that stand out are Midnight Orchid Design, Axe & Bear Trading, Canes Enable, Leather Lair, and the Glassblower's. The merchants are many and varied, and there seems to be a real stress on quality handmade products versus much of the import stuff that can be purchased on Amazon.
Unlike many such festivals I have attended, this particular Faire has actual working bathrooms with real sinks! Comfort, accessibility, and beauty are obviously paramount to this particular Renaissance Festival. The owners, operators, and participants of this Fair have created an amazing experience where one really feels as though they are experiencing a real working living...
Read moreWe were at the faire which I've been dying to go to all season. I have to say it is an incredible experience! Although it was very overcrowded, we all still had a great time. So much to see and do, it's impossible to do it all in one day! You literally feel like you have stepped back in time to an old Elizabethan village! Every worker and actor is dressed in time appropriate costumes and they don't stop there! They speak and portray themselves as if they were from that time as well!! My only complaint would be that the map was a bit easier to read and they had more street signs or corner posts to guide you because we kept getting very lost and because of that, we could have enjoyed more of the faire rather than going in circles trying to orient ourselves. That would be a Huge help and improvement. I also have to admit that i was surprised that they served so much alcohol. I am not a prude but someone literally almost hit us as we were leaving and you could literally smell the alcohol wafting from their car! I'm not saying that no one can drink but maybe make the portions smaller and a few less places to get it because, honestly it's dangerous! If the portions are smaller and less accessible, they may at least have time to allow them to not become quite so intoxicated and can simply walk some of it off. Or for locals, you can offer safe transportation options. It's not just because they are getting behind a wheel of a car, but also some people are not exactly happy drunks. This is supposed to be a family event and while most parents will behave appropriately, others may not. I would hate to see a small child be trampled by a drunk person simply because he or she is so drunk, they don't realize what...
Read moreIt's been roughly 12 years since I've been to the PA Renaissance faire, most things are like I remember with some updates and new areas( to me).
Our weekend date chosen, unfortunately called for coldness and rain remains from a storm. The faire is rain or shine, so some performances didn't happen ( safety etc ), which is understandable. If you're expecting specific events, check the weather.
I've been several times over the years and it was my husband's first time. He was most excited about trying a turkey leg, for sure, and a giant pickle for myself. Interestingly enough, we also tried Get Baked - a potato place. He says it's probably one of the best baked potatoes he's had in a long time; days later he's still talking about it.
It's always a great time to people watch, seeing the different time period, and fantasy characters people come up with.
There are now some picnic tables to use while you grab a bite, I do wish they could have more benches placed for a quick sit down.
After a few hours we headed home. In the future, it'll definitely be a yearly fall trip.
KEY NOTES : • You can ONLY buy tickets ONLINE - don't fall for scammers. No gate tickets.
• RAIN OR SHINE - come prepared for either.

Nearly all pavement, it does have some hills and valleys, plus areas of grass, gravel and dirt.
• Depending on where you are - ATMs can be a bit hidden. We stood in a 30min+ line down by the bread bowl place for theirs. go to the kids area, there's I think 2 around the back of the pirate ship / tavern 3 or more. Bring cash before you...
