Whiskeytown lake is a beautiful place with hiking, camping, swimming, fishing and hunting possible (Yes you can hunt in a national park when the season is open) . It has 4 waterfalls that are easily accessible. There are two marinas and RV sites are also available. The visitor center has a great store and staff who will answer questions about all of the park. The old towns of French Gulch and Old Shasta are nearby with some eating and supply options available. Finally, there are a few 4wd roads in the park sometimes open in the summer months.
As of 4/19 access to rhe park is limited. Since the Carr fire, most of the park is closed. Some hiking is available, the boat ramp at Whiskey Creek is open and the entire lake is accessible. The trails to the waterfalls are closed and there is no camping. Damaged trees and errosion problems need to be repaired. However, staff are working hard to take care of these problems. Call the visitor for information about what is currently open. Pictures show mixed effects...

$25 was the week pass price we happily paid for. There wasn't an option for a day pass that I recall finding.
Whiskeytown actually made us think about moving to Redding. That's how much we...
