What to do in Redding, California 👇👇 We just got back from 4 days in Redding, California and it may be one of our new favorite basecamps for adventure. (A D) A big thanks to @visitredding for having us! 🏨 To see all of this - we stayed at @americanaredding. This hotel is centrally located so we could walk to most restaurants and easily take off from downtown to our adventure locations. 1️⃣ Explore some local waterfalls We were able to see NINE waterfalls while we were here! All waterfalls were within an hour or so from Redding. There is even a waterfall loop you can take to see them all. Some of our favorites were McCloud Falls trail, Faery Falls, and Burney Falls. 2️⃣ Check out local events It seemed like there was always something going on downtown! While here we stopped by their annual car show and @glowingwild_redding, a pop up to honor the Year of the Dragon, which ends May 26th. 3️⃣ Explore Whiskeytown Recreation Area This area is just a 30 minute drive from town and is a stunning area for hiking and outdoor recreation. We highly recommend hiking to Whiskeytown Falls in particular! 4️⃣ Kayak at Whiskeytown Lake Head to the marina and rent kayaks to explore this beautiful lake. We had a great time paddling to the various islands and getting some sun. 5️⃣ Visit Shasta Lake Shasta Lake is just a 20 minute drive from Redding. This is a great spot to rent a boat or jet skis and explore the lake! If you have more time in the area or visit in the summer months when more hiking is available- check out these spots too: 🏔️ Tour Lake Shasta Caverns 🥾 Hike at Castle Crags State Park 🏞️ Visit Lassen National Park 🥾 Hike near Mount Shasta, Heart Lake was highly recommended! #redding #reddingcalifornia #visitredding #californiatravel #california #besthikes #outdooradventure #optoutside #westcoast #westcoastroadtrip #californiahiking #waterfallhike #lakeshasta #burneyfalls #mccloudfalls #lassenvolcanicnationalpark #sunniestcityincalifornia

I love Whiskeytown Lake! I've been coming here my entire life, and I don't think I'll ever get over how pretty the lake is. I was so sad after the Carr Fire burned off all of the trees around the lake in 2018, but I'm so glad now that things are starting to grow back. There used to be several telescopes you had to pay quarters to use, but now there is only one you don't have to pay for. Just don't look directly into the setting sun like my cousin did. 😂 The visitor center is also a cool place to check out, if it's open and you have time. There are a lot of fun little souvenirs you can get. I forget what time it opens, but I do remember it closes at 5 pm. Attached to the visitor center with outside openings, there are also bathrooms here if you need. Those are always open. Overall, whether you live in the Redding area or are just passing through, I highly recommend checking out the beauty of Whiskeytown Lake!

During my recent visit to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, I was truly impressed by the beauty. I recommend starting at the Visitor Center where the knowledgeable staff provide excellent explanations and help you get a map of the area. The park features stunning attractions including a whiskey town lake, the Kennedy Memorial, a serene waterfall, Powerhouse where u can relax, Tower house hotel, various trails, and water activities. The park pass costs $25 for a private vehicle, but it’s free if you have an America the Beautiful pass. Clean bathroom. If you're near Shasta, Whiskeytown is definitely worth a visit for its...
