As a Latina (member of the latinx community), I thought it was a great park. I went there with my friends bc sansei was closed which is so wack. We heard there was a large selection of seafood available but disliked that we had to get it ourselves. The service was horrible, we had to seat ourselves. But we grew some balls and grabbed a cup we found on the ground. We knew we couldn’t get any of the big fish bc we had gone totally unprepared, so we settled for the little ones near the shore. We tried to look on the bright side and thought of them as bite sized belugas! We could only get a hold of a few, but they were great appetizers. Aside from the fishy scent, the taste was quiet pleasant and i was surprised at how earthy the freshwater was. Everything was going well until my other latinx friend started to feel a bit queasy. Before I could stop him and tell him to wait for the second course, he escaped my grasp and made a run for the very conveniently placed restroom. We followed after him and immediately regretted it as the stench hit us. Who knew a twink could cause such a ruckus?! We asked him what his deal was and he wouldn’t stop throwing up which was so annoying. He never talked to us again but he also got so much skinnier which was like thanks to us so whatever. But as far as the river goes, don’t even bother bringing...

Let me tell you about Reedley Beach—the hidden oasis where Central Cali locals go to escape the heat and pretend they’re on a tropical vacation… minus the resort, the drinks, and the hotel. But hey, who needs that when you’ve got river water and an uncle in sandals yelling “¡Trae el carbón!”
For only $7, you get front-row access to a river that’s cold enough to reset your credit score. Don’t expect to spend the night—this ain’t a camping trip, it’s a sunburn-and-run. Just enough time to fry some meat, splash around, and lose one flip-flop to the current.
Pro Tips: • Bring your own juice. Adult or kid kind. No judgment, just hydration. • Pack a sandwich or a full-blown carne asada setup—your call. Just remember: there’s no food stand, but you will see an ice cream dealer in a vintage van that looks like it’s been selling paletas since 1984. Legend says he was born in the freezer.
Vibes? Top notch. Scenery? River, trees, and your cousin in a wet tank top. Downside? If you forget sunscreen, you’ll leave looking like a roasted tomato with regrets.
Reedley Beach: where the water’s free, the shade is sacred, and the only lifeguard is your aunt with a whistle and a stare that could end wars.
10/10 would return with extra juice and...
Read moreExcellent spot for everyone. There are locations with full sun or full shade. There is easy access to the water from the sandy beaches along the bank of the river. The sand bar extends out into the middle of the river so you can walk to the deeper parts to jump in and swim down river. THE WATER IS FREEZING COLD. I loved it, and the kids got acclimated although they did not fully jump in. It is much colder than the rivers back in Texas, including the Rio Frío, but we still had fun. We highly recommend this place and suggest you get there early as it is a popular spot in...
